Purpose of the Role :
The Mobile App Developer (Android & iOS) is a hands-on engineer within the Connected Cars Platform organisation, responsible for designing, building, and shipping the suite of mobile applications that are the primary digital touchpoint between Tata Motors customers and their connected vehicles. The role spans both native platform development — Kotlin/Jetpack Compose on Android and Swift/SwiftUI on iOS — and cross-platform development using Flutter, ensuring a single engineering team can deliver consistent, high-quality experiences across all target form factors.
The engineer owns end-to-end delivery of mobile features: from API contract definition with backend teams, through pixel-perfect UI/UX implementation, to production release via automated CI/CD pipelines. A critical differentiator for this role is first-hand expertise in vehicle-extension platforms: Android Auto (including AAOS phone projection) and Apple CarPlay, enabling the platform to project connected-car capabilities — remote commands, vehicle status, navigation,
and in-cabin controls — directly into the driver's head unit without a dedicated IVI system.
Job Responsibilities :
Native & Cross-Platform Application Development :
- Architect and develop production-grade Android applications using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Android Architecture Components (MVVM / Clean Architecture).
- Architect and develop production-grade iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, Combine, and UIKit where required, targeting current iOS LTS versions.
- Build and maintain Flutter modules that share business logic and UI components across Android and iOS, minimising platform-specific divergence without sacrificing native fidelity.
- Implement state management patterns (Riverpod, BLoC, or Provider for Flutter; ViewModels with StateFlow for Android; ObservableObject for iOS) appropriate to feature complexity.
- Design and consume RESTful, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs for vehicle telemetry, remote com
