Role & responsibilities

- Recognizes and analyze the patients needs.
- Assesses plans and implement total patient care.
- Apply scientific principles in giving patient care.
- Utilize available resources in giving patient care.
- Include the patient and family in the planning of care.
- Evaluate her / his performance in relation to effectiveness of care provided.
- Maintain appropriate patient care records.
- Recognize legal implications in nursing practice and follows the policies of the nursing service department.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic setting for the patient.
- Maintain a high standard of nursing care and practice.
- To perform controls on glucometer and document the same as per policy.
- To perform Inter-lab comparison of glucose as per policy.
- Thinks and acts promptly in emergency situations.
- Keeps her / his knowledge up to date and attends continuous nursing education classes and other mandatory trainings.
- Give health teaching to the patients and family members.
- Assist with ward teaching where necessary.
- Pursue own professional development.
- Adheres to all hospital policies and nursing code of conduct.
- Develop objectives for the management of patient nursing care.




- Co-operate with personal of other departments and nursing personnel in providing for patient total needs.
- Evaluate her work periodically.
- Report and document all accident / indicants in which she is involved.
- Perform extra duties when called upon especially on an emergency.
- Have basic knowledge of Patient Diagnostic procedure.
- Observes conscious state and pupil reaction.
- Draws Blood Sample (venous).
- Assists in setting up ventilator, changes ventilator tubing and filter.
- Assists in intubation and extubation and does ETT and oral suctioning.
- Demonstrate ability and knowledge of adult and pediatric CPR.
- Assists / Cares the patient in the following procedure

- ICD insertion

- Tracheostomy
- CVP & Arterial line
- Bed side echo and other bedside procedures

- Paracentesis

- Thoracentesis

- Lumbar puncture

- Colostomy
- Obtains ECG.
- Assist in defibrillation and cardiovertion.
- IPSG/GCS Prepare Nursing care plan, deliver and document.

- Accurate I/O chart
- Monitor patient on ventilator.
- Responsible to carry out – Critical Value Protocol
- To participate comprehensively in all quality program.
