Job Title: Trainer – Specialised Sewing Machine Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Trainer – Specialised Sewing Machine Operator to deliver residential skill training under the DDU-GKY 2.0 Project. The trainer will be responsible for conducting practical and theoretical sessions in accordance with the prescribed Qualification Pack, National Occupational Standards, approved curriculum and project guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver classroom and practical training on specialised industrial sewing machines.
- Train candidates in machine operation, threading, needle and attachment selection, machine settings and basic maintenance.
- Demonstrate stitching operations using machines such as lockstitch, overlock, flatlock, buttonhole and button-stitch machines.
- Teach fabric identification, garment components, measurements, seam types and quality standards.
- Train candidates to interpret job specifications and perform production operations accurately.
- Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, raw materials and personal protective equipment.
- Conduct regular practical exercises, assignments, internal assessments and mock tests.
- Identify slow learners and provide remedial training and individual support.
- Maintain attendance, session plans, trainee progress records, assessment documents and other required MIS.
- Prepare candidates for third-party assessment, certification and employment interviews.
- Coordinate with the Centre Manager, Mobilisation, Placement,



Quality and MIS teams.
- Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with DDU-GKY 2.0, health, safety and training-centre guidelines.
- Support placement activities, employer interactions, exposure visits and on-the-job training, wherever applicable.
- Maintain machines and report requirements for repairs, consumables and replacements.

Educational Qualification

- ITI/Diploma/Certificate in Sewing Technology, Garment Manufacturing, Apparel Production, Fashion Design or a relevant trade.

Experience

- Minimum 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in industrial sewing, apparel production or garment manufacturing.
- Prior experience as a trainer in DDU-GKY, PMKVY or another government skill-development programme is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with specialised and industrial sewing machines is essential.

Required Skills

- Solid practical knowledge of industrial sewing operations.
- Ability to conduct engaging theory and practical sessions.
- Knowledge of garment quality parameters and production processes.
- Good communication, demonstration and classroom-management skills.
- Ability to communicate in the local language; basic English and Hindi are desirable.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, online attendance and training MIS systems.
- Willingness to work in a residential training environment.
