Overview
The Assistant Engineer will support the design and delivery of engineering solutions by preparing technical documentation, performing engineering calculations, coordinating with project stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and quality requirements. The role contributes to the timely and efficient delivery of project objectives while developing technical and qualified skills through collaboration with senior engineers and project teams.
Your Role
Roles & Responsibilities
Assist in the design of electrical building services systems.
Prepare load estimations and demand calculations.
Carry out cable sizing, voltage drop and short-circuit calculations using tools such as Amtech/Trimble ProDesign.
Undertake lighting design and lux level calculations using Dialux/Relux.
Produce electrical layouts for:
Lighting
Small power
Cable containment
Earthing and lightning protection
Fire alarm systems
Support multidisciplinary coordination with Architectural, Structural, HVAC, PHE, Fire, ICT, and BIM teams.
Attend design coordination and review meetings.
Assist in preparing design reports, specifications, schedules, BOQs, and technical submissions.
Support site queries, technical reviews, and client comments resolution.
Work under the supervision of senior engineers while developing technical and project management skills.
Typical Competencies Expected:
Understanding of BS 7671 and building services design principles.
Basic knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, Dialux/Relux, and Amtech.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to produce calculations and drawings to project standards.
Willingness to learn and progress toward professional registration (IEng/CEng).
About You
Bachelor’s degree level qualification in electrical engineering
1+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within building services design.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
