Position Title: Taxation Executive
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Tax Manager / Head of Finance
Industry: Infrastructure / Real Estate (Marg Group)
Position Summary The Taxation Executive will handle the day-to-day direct and indirect tax operations of the company. The role requires ensuring absolute compliance with statutory tax obligations, meticulous computation of tax liabilities, timely filing of returns, and supporting internal or external tax audits. The ideal candidate possesses a strong command of Indian taxation laws (GST, TDS, Income Tax) and hands-on experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) or accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
1. Indirect Taxation (GST & Custom Duties)
- Prepare, verify, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.) accurately and on schedule.
- Perform regular reconciliations between books of accounts and GST portals (GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B matching) to maximize Input Tax Credit (ITC).
- Manage e-way bill generation processes and monitor compliance with state and interstate transaction regulations.
- Assist senior management during GST audits, assessments, and departmental inquiries.
2. Direct Taxation (TDS, TCS, & Corporate Tax)
- Ensure accurate deduction and timely deposit of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and Tax Collected at Source (TCS).
- Prepare and file quarterly TDS/TCS statements (Form 24Q, 26Q, etc.) and generate Form 16/16A for vendors and employees.
- Support the computation of advance tax liabilities and corporate tax provisions on a periodic basis.
- Compile documentation and schedules required for corporate income tax filings and tax audits.
3. Compliance, Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all tax challans, assessments, legal notices, and filing receipts for audit readiness.
- Monitor changes in tax legislations and update internal finance teams on regulatory developments impacting operations.
- Coordinate with internal departments (Procurement, Sales, Accounts Payable/Receivable) to resolve tax-related operational bottlenecks.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Commerce (B.Com) or Accounting; Master’s in Commerce (M.Com) or MBA (Finance) will be an added advantage.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of core corporate experience handling direct and indirect taxation.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth practical knowledge of GST laws, Income Tax Act, and TDS provisions.
- Proficiency in advanced MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data sorting).
- Hands-on experience with ERP environments or mainstream accounting software (such as SAP, Tally, or Marg ERP).
- Soft Skills: Robust analytical mindset, meticulous attention to detail, high integrity in handling confidential financial data, and strong time-management abilities.Role & responsibilities
