Company Description Claritas Eye & Retina Institute (CERI) is a specialized eye care center founded on the core values of empathy and clinical competence. CERI offers a wide range of services including cataract surgery and IOL services, vitreo-retina care, eye injections, refractive surgery (ICL), glaucoma services, cornea and dry eye management, pediatric ophthalmology, and vision therapy.
Diagnostic and imaging eye services are integrated to support accurate evaluations and treatment planning. The team is committed to understanding each patient’s needs and providing the most appropriate care in a patient-centered setting.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Surgical Assistant role based at Claritas Eye & Retina Institute in Delhi, India.
The Surgical
Assistant will support ophthalmic surgeons during cataract, retina, and other eye procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging instruments, and assisting directly during surgery. Daily responsibilities include ensuring proper sterilization of equipment, maintaining surgical supplies, and adhering to infection control protocols. The role involves coordinating with nursing and medical staff, preparing patients for procedures, documenting surgical activities, and supporting post-operative care processes.
The Surgical
Assistant is expected to follow established clinical guidelines, maintain high safety standards, and contribute to an efficient and empathetic surgical environment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in operating room procedures and workflows, including setup, turnover, and compliance with safety standards.
- Proficiency in surgical assisting and surgical technology, particularly in ophthalmic or microsurgical settings.
- Foundational knowledge of medicine relevant to eye care, including basic anatomy, sterile techniques, and perioperative patient care.
- Hands-on experience with sterilization processes, instrument handling, and infection control practices.
- Diploma or degree in Surgical Technology, Ophthalmic Assistant, Nursing, or a related clinical field.
- Prior experience in an ophthalmic operating room or eye hospital is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to follow accurate instructions in time-sensitive situations.
- Effective communication skills, ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and commitment to empathetic patient care.
- Willingness to work on-site in Delhi, India, and adapt to a fast-paced surgical schedule.
