Role & responsibilities :
- Lead Supplier Development and Supplier Quality activities for Hydraulics and Powertrain commodity parts.
- Identify, evaluate, develop and qualify new and existing suppliers through supplier assessments, SEM audits and process audits.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes, quality systems and controls to ensure readiness for PPAP and serial production.
- Lead APQP and PPAP activities for new product development and engineering changes in line with AIAG requirements.
- Drive supplier quality improvement, process capability, productivity and cost reduction initiatives.
- Act as the key interface between Suppliers, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality and Operations for current product and change implementation.
- Monitor supplier quality performance, assign quality targets and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead supplier problem-solving activities using 8D, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone, Six Sigma and other quality tools.
- Support supplier compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and other applicable QMS/EMS requirements.
- Support CSR audits, sustainability initiatives and supplier governance activities.
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with assigned suppliers and promote continuous improvement.
- Support Purchasing in improving supplier Quality, Cost, Delivery and overall performance.
- Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers on quality systems, APQP, PPAP and problem-solving methodologies.
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams and participate in supplier, quality and business review meetings.
- Drive change management and ensure successful implementation of supplier development projects in line with Volvo CE objectives.
Preferred candidate profile
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in Supplier Development / Supplier Quality.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, 8D, Root Cause Analysis and Process Audits.
- Hands-on experience in Castings, Forgings, Machining, Welding, Hydraulics and Powertrain components.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and ISO/IATF quality systems.
- Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and supplier management skills.
- Experience in Automotive / Construction Equipment / Heavy Engineering preferred.
