Job Summary The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – English will be responsible for providing academic and subject expertise in English curriculum development, content creation, review, and quality enhancement. The role involves designing engaging, age-appropriate, and curriculum-aligned learning resources that support effective teaching and learning across the designated grades.

The SME will work closely with teachers, curriculum teams, and academic leaders to ensure consistency, accuracy, and high academic standards across English learning materials.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, review, and enhance English curriculum content aligned with the school's academic framework and curriculum requirements.
- Create high-quality lesson plans, worksheets, assessments, question banks, presentations, learning resources, and other academic materials.
- Ensure all content is age-appropriate, accurate, engaging, and pedagogically sound.
- Review existing English content and recommend improvements based on curriculum requirements and learner needs.
- Develop differentiated learning resources to cater to varying student abilities and learning levels.
- Design formative and summative assessments aligned with learning outcomes.
- Prepare assessment frameworks, rubrics, answer keys, and marking schemes where required.
- Ensure appropriate development of language skills including reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar,



vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Collaborate with teachers to understand classroom requirements and provide subject-specific academic support.
- Conduct content audits and quality checks to maintain consistency and accuracy across academic resources.
- Support the development and implementation of curriculum maps, scope and sequence, and learning outcomes.
- Stay updated with current trends, methodologies, resources, and best practices in English language education.
- Provide guidance and academic inputs to teachers on subject-related matters.
- Participate in academic meetings, curriculum planning sessions, workshops, and training programmes.
- Review textbooks, supplementary resources, digital content, and other instructional materials.
- Ensure content is free from grammatical, factual, contextual, and formatting errors.
- Support the integration of technology and innovative teaching methodologies into English learning resources.
- Maintain proper documentation and version control of curriculum and academic resources.
- Work collaboratively with the Curriculum and Academic teams to meet timelines and project deliverables.
- Undertake any other academic responsibilities assigned by the reporting authority.





Qualifications
- Master's Degree in English / English Literature / Education or a related discipline.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred.
- Solid command of written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of school curricula such as CBSE / ICSE / IB will be an advantage.
- Additional certification in curriculum development, instructional design, or education will be an added advantage.

Experience
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in teaching English, curriculum development, academic content development, or a similar role.
- Experience in developing curriculum and assessment resources for school students.
- Prior experience as a Subject Matter Expert, Curriculum Developer, English Coordinator, or Senior English Teacher will be preferred.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary academic teams is desirable.
