About the Role

Future World India is looking for a hands-on Store Development & Projects Manager to manage the development and execution of our retail stores across India.

The person will be responsible for taking a store project from initial site assessment and store brief through civil work, interiors, vendor coordination and final handover, ensuring that the store is completed on time, within budget and as per the required design and quality standards.

We are looking for someone with strong practical knowledge of construction and interiors. The candidate does not necessarily need to be a qualified architect or a highly technical designer. Hands-on execution experience is a must.

The ideal candidate should be someone who can visit a site, understand what needs to be done, prepare a practical execution plan, coordinate contractors and vendors, solve problems on-site and deliver a fully completed, opening-ready retail store.

Key Responsibilities

1. Store Brief & Site Assessment

- Visit prospective store locations and assess the site from a construction and execution perspective.
- Prepare detailed store development briefs covering civil, interiors, electrical, HVAC, lighting, signage, storage, back-office and other requirements.
- Understand business and operational requirements and translate them into practical store requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, interior designers and consultants wherever required.
- Review proposed layouts and identify practical execution issues before work begins.

2. Civil & Interior Execution

Take ownership of all civil and interior execution activities, including:

- Flooring
- False ceilings
- Walls and partitions
- Civil modifications
- Painting and finishes
- Carpentry and furniture
- Glass work
- Electrical work
- Lighting
- HVAC
- Plumbing
- Fire-safety-related works
- Signage and façade
- Fixtures and other retail fit-outs

The candidate should be able to understand drawings and specifications and translate them into actual site execution. 3. Contractor & Vendor Management

- Identify and coordinate civil contractors, interior contractors and specialist vendors.
- Obtain and compare quotations.
- Prepare / review BOQs, measurements and cost estimates.
- Negotiate with contractors and vendors.
- Allocate work and monitor contractor performance.
- Ensure contractors maintain agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Develop a reliable vendor/contractor network across key cities.

4. Project Management

- Manage projects from site handover to store opening.
- Prepare project timelines and execution schedules.

- Monitor daily/weekly progress.
- Coordinate multiple contractors and agencies working simultaneously.
- Identify potential delays and take corrective action.
- Escalate major issues and provide practical solutions.
- Maintain project documentation, estimates, BOQs, quotations and completion records.
- Ensure projects are completed within the approved budget.

5. Cost Control

- Prepare preliminary project cost estimates.
- Track project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation without compromising quality.
- Check contractor bills and measurements.
- Control variations, additional works and project overruns.
- Ensure commercial terms agreed with contractors are adhered to.

6. Quality Control

- Conduct regular site inspections.
- Check workmanship, materials, dimensions and finishes.
- Ensure execution matches approved drawings/design standards.
- Identify defects and coordinate corrective action.
- Prepare snag lists and ensure timely closure.
- Conduct final quality checks before store handover.

7. Store Opening & Handover

- Coordinate with internal teams including Retail Operations, IT, Security, Visual Merchandising and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all civil/interior works are completed before the committed opening date.
- Coordinate final testing and commissioning wherever required.
- Ensure the store is 100% ready for merchandising and operations.
- Complete project handover and close all pending issues.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a hands-on project execution professional, rather than someone whose experience is limited to preparing drawings.

The ideal candidate should

- Have solid practical knowledge of civil construction and commercial interiors.
- Have experience executing retail stores, showrooms, offices, restaurants, commercial spaces or similar projects.
- Be comfortable spending significant time at project sites.
- Understand architectural/interior drawings and be able to coordinate their execution.
- Have good knowledge of civil, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, flooring, ceiling, lighting and finishing works.
- Understand BOQs, measurements, estimates and contractor bills.

- Have strong contractor and vendor management skills.
- Be a good negotiator.
- Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Be willing to travel extensively for store projects.
- Have the ability to independently resolve day-to-day site issues.

4. Reduction in rework and project delays
5. Effective contractor/vendor management
6. Timely resolution of site issues
7. Compliance with approved store design standards

What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who can own the entire execution process.
