Position Summary:

- The Sr. Manager Materials Management is responsible for leading the end-to-end procurement of domestic and imported raw materials, packaging materials, fuels, utilities and purchase logistics services to ensure uninterrupted production at optimum cost while maintaining quality, compliance, and inventory targets. The role also oversees import documentation, customs coordination, freight management, supplier development, and strategic sourcing initiatives to improve competitiveness.

Job Profile:

Strategic Procurement:

- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead identification of new domestic and international suppliers.
- Build long-term strategic supplier partnerships.
- Identify alternate sources for critical raw materials.
- Drive MM cost reduction through negotiations and value engineering.
- Monitor commodity markets (Crude, Sulphur, Metals like Zinc and Aluminium through LME), exchange rates, freight trends, and supply risks owing to geo-political or other situations.

Procurement Operations:

- Manage procurement of Specialty chemicals, Solvents, Monomers, Additives & Catalysts, Packaging materials, Industrial gases,



Biomass or other fuels, Consumables and indirect materials.
- Ensure timely purchase order placement and delivery.
- Maintain uninterrupted production through effective planning.
- Optimize inventory while minimizing working capital.
- Import Procurement & Documentation
- Handle end-to-end import procurement activities.
- Coordinate with overseas suppliers.
- Manage Incoterms and international commercial contracts.
- Review Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading/Air Waybill, Certificate of Origin, Insurance documents, MSDS/SDS, Test Certificates
- Coordinate customs clearance through CHA.
- Ensure compliance with DGFT, Customs, BIS and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor duty optimization opportunities under relevant schemes and free trade agreements where applicable.
- Track shipment schedules and resolve import-related issues.

Logistics Management:

- Manage domestic transportation of raw materials.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound (empty tanks) logistics.
- Optimize freight costs and vehicle utilization for internal and external movement.
- Manage warehouse coordination for inbound materials.
- Monitor transporter performance.
- Ensure secure transportation of hazardous chemicals in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Negotiate annual rate contracts.

Supplier Management:

- Identify, evaluate and onboard suppliers.
- Conduct supplier audits jointly with QA team.
- Develop supplier performance ratings.
- Improve supplier quality, delivery and responsiveness.
- Resolve commercial disputes and claims.
- Build supplier risk mitigation and business continuity plans.

Cost Management

- Prepare annual procurement budgets through AOP.
- Deliver measurable cost savings.
- Analyze spend and procurement opportunities.
- Track purchase price variance.
- Control logistics costs.
- Improve payment terms and cash flow.

Cross Functional Coordination:

- Work closely with Operation, Marketing, R&D;, Quality Assurance, Finance, Safety, Stores.
- Participate in new product commercialization with NBD by sourcing new materials.
- Support product cost estimation for existing and new products.

Compliance & Governance





- Ensure procurement policy compliance.
- Maintain ethical sourcing practices.
- Support ISO audits, customer audits, Supplier audits, Ecovadis, RC and ISCC compliances .
- Ensure statutory compliance related to procurement and imports.
- Maintain complete procurement documentation and ERP entries.
- Support ESG and sustainable sourcing initiatives.

Team Leadership:

- Participate in leadership and grooming programme for development.
- Set annual goals and KPIs.
- Develop team capabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement and digital procurement initiatives like E Tendering.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Raw material availability (%), Supplier on-time delivery, Annual procurement cost savings, Purchase price variance Inventory days.
- RM cost as a percentage of Sales, Freight cost per MT, Import clearance turnaround time, Supplier quality performance, Number of approved alternate suppliers, Contract compliance, Working capital improvement, Procurement cycle time, Vendor payment efficiency.

Desired Profile:

- B.Sc / M.Sc / BE / B.Tech (Chemical / Organic Chemistry) or MBA (Materials Management preferred or Marketing Management) with 15 to 18 yrs experience in procurement and supply chain with any specialty chemicals, polymers, petrochemicals, coatings, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals or allied industries
- Minimum 8 to 10 years in a middle management role.
- Strong exposure to both domestic and international sourcing.
- Candidate must have competencies in Strategic sourcing, Supplier negotiations, Global procurement, Import documentation complete knowledge, Customs procedures, Commodity price analysis, Contract management, Inventory optimisation, Freight and logistics management, Cost analysis, ERP systems, Advanced Excel and data analytics, Risk management, Leadership basic exposure and people development.
- Very Strong communication and stakeholder management.
