Key Responsibilities

Leadership &

- Function Ownership

- Lead the mechanical design and projects team (engineers, designers, drafters); define roles, KPIs, and capability roadmap.

- Set design standards, templates, checklists, and best practices; drive standardization and reuse across projects/products.

- Mentor and develop engineers; conduct design reviews, technical training, and performance management.

Design Strategy &

- Detailed Engineering Oversight

- Own the mechanical design strategy for projects/products: concept, FEED, detailed engineering, and design validation.

- Review and approve key deliverables: layouts, GA drawings, BOM/BOQ, specifications, calculation sheets, and technical submittals.

- Ensure designs are optimized for cost, performance, constructability, manufacturability, safety, and reliability.

- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (IS, ASME, ASTM, EN, AISC/Eurocode for structures, etc.).

Project Engineering &

- Execution Governance

- Provide technical leadership for mechanical scope across the project lifecycle: tendering, engineering, procurement support, execution, commissioning, and handover.

- Coordinate with Projects, Procurement,



Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, and R&D; to align design with schedule, budget, and quality targets.

- Oversee vendor drawing reviews, technical queries, deviations, and approvals; resolve critical technical issues and RFIs.

- Support site teams for installation guidance, commissioning support, troubleshooting, and performance stabilization.

Commercial &

- Risk Management

- Contribute to technical proposals, BOQ/BOM finalization, and cost optimization (value engineering, alternate materials/designs).

- Identify and mitigate design and execution risks (technical, schedule, safety, quality); lead root-cause analysis for major issues and drive corrective actions.

- Ensure robust documentation control, change management, and as-built capture for audits and future reference.

Stakeholder &

- Client Management

- Act as the senior technical interface for clients, consultants, EPC partners, and regulators on mechanical matters.

- Lead design reviews, technical meetings, and presentations; negotiate technical solutions and close-outs.
