Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, optimizing, and securing SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure platforms. The candidate should possess strong expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, query optimization, high availability, disaster recovery, and production troubleshooting while ensuring optimal database performance, reliability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Manage SQL Server instances across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
- Perform database migrations, upgrades, backup and recovery activities, and capacity planning.
- Analyse and optimize slow-running queries, stored procedures, functions, and database workloads.
- Review execution plans and implement indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning strategies.
- Troubleshoot deadlocks, blocking issues, locking conflicts, and resource contention.
- Monitor and optimize database performance including CPU, memory, TempDB, storage, and I/O utilization.
- Design, implement, and support High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions including Always on Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, and Log Shipping.
- Manage database security, user access, permissions, auditing, and compliance requirements.
- Administer Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server workloads running on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to resolve database-related issues and support modernization initiatives.




- Plan and execute database migration projects across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Perform SQL Server migrations to Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Assess source databases, identify migration risks, and recommend appropriate migration strategies.
- Utilize migration tools such as Azure Database Migration Service (DMS), Backup/Restore, Log Shipping, and native SQL Server migration methods.

Qualifications & Required Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
- Strong experience with SQL Server installation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, backup and recovery.
- Expertise in query performance tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing, Query Store, SQL Profiler, and Extended Events.
- Experience with database design concepts including normalization, denormalization, data modelling, and partitioning.
- Hands-on experience with Always on Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), Replication, and Log Shipping.
- Experience managing Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Hands-on experience in database migration, upgrade, and modernization projects.
- Experience migrating SQL Server workloads to Azure SQL Database,



Azure SQL Managed Instance, or SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Familiarity with Azure Database Migration Service (DMS) and migration assessment methodologies.
- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting and database automation concepts.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Valuable to Have Skills

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900).
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and database monitoring tools.
- Exposure to SSIS, ETL processes, and data integration solutions.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep).
- Experience with Azure Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions.
- Experience with large-scale database migration and cloud modernization initiatives.
- Knowledge of Azure Database Migration Service (DMS) and Azure Migrate.
