Special Educator

About the Centre
We are establishing a specialised Child Learning & Development Centre focused on supporting children who experience difficulties related to learning, attention, development, communication and classroom functioning.
The centre will support children with needs such as ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, developmental delays, autism, learning difficulties and other educational/developmental challenges.
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Special Educator to become a key member of our core team and take responsibility for planning and delivering individualised educational support.
Key Responsibilities1. Child Assessment & Educational Planning
- Understand each child's academic, developmental and learning needs.
- Conduct appropriate educational assessments and identify areas requiring intervention.
- Review information and reports provided by psychologists, therapists, schools and parents.
- Identify the child's strengths, challenges and learning style.
- Develop and maintain Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) based on the child's needs.
- Establish measurable short-term and long-term learning goals.
1. Academic & Learning Support
Provide individual or small-group intervention in areas such as:
- Reading
- Writing
- Spelling
- Phonics
- Reading comprehension
- Mathematics
- Number concepts
- Handwriting
- Attention and concentration
- Memory and learning strategies
- Executive functioning
- Study skills
- School-readiness skills
Use appropriate teaching methods, differentiated instruction and learning materials according to each child's abilities.
1. Children with Learning & Developmental Difficulties
Experience working with children with the following will be highly preferred:
- ADHD / attention difficulties
- Dyslexia
- Dysgraphia
- Dyscalculia
- Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Developmental delay
- Intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Slow learning
- Communication-related learning difficulties
- Executive-function difficulties
- School-readiness difficulties

IEP Implementation & Progress Monitoring
- Implement individualised intervention programmes.
- Maintain accurate records of each child's sessions and progress.
- Track progress against IEP goals.
- Conduct periodic reviews of learning objectives.
- Modify intervention strategies when required.
- Prepare periodic progress reports for parents.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for each child.
1. Parent Guidance
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding the child's progress.
- Explain the child's strengths and areas requiring additional support.
- Provide practical activities and strategies that parents can use at home.
- Conduct parent meetings when required.
- Help parents understand realistic learning goals and expectations.
1. Multidisciplinary Coordination
Work closely with:
- Clinical/Child Psychologist
- Speech & Language Therapist
- Occupational Therapist
- Learning Support Teachers
- Classroom teachers
- Parents
- Other specialists involved in the child's care
Participate in case discussions and contribute to the development of comprehensive intervention plans.
1. Teacher Guidance & Supervision
The Special Educator will also support the centre's Learning Support Teachers by:
- Providing guidance on intervention strategies.
- Demonstrating appropriate teaching techniques.
- Reviewing lesson plans and learning materials.
- Monitoring implementation of IEPs.
- Helping teachers manage individual learning needs.
- Conducting periodic case reviews.
QualificationEssential
- Recognised qualification in Special Education / Special Education Needs from an appropriate institution.
- Valid and active RCI registration / CRR registration, where applicable to the candidate's professional category.
- Experience working with children with learning or developmental difficulties.
Preferred
- Bachelor's or Master's qualification in Special Education.
- Experience with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), ADHD, dyslexia and related learning difficulties.
- Experience in preparing and implementing IEPs.
- Experience working in a school, special-education centre, child-development centre or multidisciplinary setting.
- Additional training in learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, behavioural strategies or early intervention.

- Be committed to evidence-based and child-centred educational practices.
Employment Details Position: Full-Time
Location: Pathankot, Punjab
Work Arrangement: In office
Experience: Candidates with relevant paediatric/special-education experience preferred.
This is a key position within the centre, and the selected candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to the development of our educational intervention programmes and systems.
