Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager with 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in large-scale construction projects.

The candidate will be responsible for managing and executing piping fabrication & erection, equipment erection & alignment, structural fabrication & erection, hydro testing, flushing, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, shutdown/turnaround and plant maintenance activities at project sites.

The role involves leading site execution teams, managing subcontractors, coordinating with clients/consultants/PMC/vendors, monitoring project progress, ensuring resource optimization, and maintaining quality, safety and schedule compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Planning & Execution

- Plan and manage mechanical construction activities as per project schedules, drawings, specifications and approved procedures.
- Lead site execution of piping, structural and equipment erection activities.
- Prepare daily, weekly and look-ahead construction plans.
- Monitor progress against targets and take corrective actions for delays/slippages.
- Ensure timely completion of construction milestones.

Piping & Mechanical Works

- Manage piping fabrication and erection for process and utility piping systems.
- Review and interpret P&IDs;, isometric drawings, GA drawings, BOM and construction drawings.
- Supervise piping supports, valves and associated mechanical systems.
- Coordinate equipment erection, installation and alignment.
- Manage structural steel fabrication and erection activities.
- Coordinate painting, insulation and other associated mechanical works.

Testing,



Pre-Commissioning & Handover

- Coordinate line checking, punch listing, hydro testing, flushing and system release.
- Ensure mechanical completion and pre-commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with commissioning teams for system handover.
- Ensure timely closure of punch points.
- Coordinate NDT, fit-up, visual inspection and related quality requirements.

Site & Manpower Management

- Lead supervisors, engineers, foremen, technicians and workmen.
- Plan manpower, equipment and material requirements.
- Monitor productivity and optimize resource utilization.
- Manage subcontractors and monitor their performance.
- Conduct regular site meetings and construction progress reviews.

Client & Stakeholder Coordination

- Coordinate with Client, Consultant, PMC, Vendors and Subcontractors.
- Participate in progress and coordination meetings.
- Resolve technical and execution issues at site.
- Coordinate with engineering, project and commissioning teams for timely resolution of site issues.

Quantity, Billing & Commercial Coordination

- Prepare and verify BOQ and executed quantities.
- Support monthly client billing and quantity reconciliation.
- Verify subcontractor bills against actual site execution.
- Assist in final reconciliation and project close-out.

Quality & HSE

- Ensure execution as per approved drawings, specifications, method statements and applicable standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection and testing.
- Ensure proper quality documentation, NDT records, inspection reports and test reports.




- Ensure compliance with project and company HSE requirements.
- Promote safe working practices across employees and subcontractors.

Shutdown / Maintenance

- Plan and execute shutdown / turnaround activities in refinery, petrochemical, fertilizer and process plants.
- Manage manpower, materials, equipment and subcontractors during shutdown activities.
- Execute mechanical maintenance, modification and piping/equipment works in operating plants.
- Ensure critical activities are completed within defined shutdown windows.

Desired Candidate Profile

- 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in mechanical construction / project execution.
- Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong experience in piping, equipment and structural erection.
- Experience in large-scale construction projects.
- Candidates from Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Power Plant, Steel or Industrial Projects preferred.
- Shutdown / turnaround and plant maintenance experience will be an advantage.
- Strong leadership, manpower and subcontractor management skills.
- Good knowledge of construction planning, progress monitoring and resource management.
- Strong client / consultant coordination skills.
- Positive communication, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Willingness to work at project sites.
