Leads larger projects, manages a team of engineers, and influences technical strategy and architecture decisions.

Scope: Owns domain solutions; architects end-to-end flows across applications and infra platforms.

Impact: Establishes standards; materially improves availability, resilience, and developer productivity.

Autonomy: Makes design trade-offs; anticipates risks; steers delivery plans and roadmaps.

Leadership: Leads squads; influences stakeholders; drives incident response and postmortems.

Typical deliverables: Domain reference architectures, golden paths, cost/performance optimization strategies.

Demonstrates leadership across technology stacks. Can articulate strategy and technical pathway forward to senior leadership. Ensures we do not diverge from approved patterns, technology standards, and compliance regulations. Delivers well-designed, testable, efficient code and/or infrastructure componentry. Excels within the DLC and can partner with business and infrastructure to collect/interpret requirements and present back in clearly defined flowcharts with all supporting documentation.

Defines and implements current automation and AI tooling, and evangelizes across the team.

Serve as the primary technical owner for key initiatives, driving technical strategy, patterns, and standards across platforms, services, and integrations.

Partner closely with product, business, and engineering teams to define requirements, shape roadmaps, and ensure solutions meet client and regulatory needs.

Evaluate and select technologies (cloud services, data platforms, integration frameworks, infrastructure components, applications), balancing performance, cost, scalability, and operational resilience.

Produce high-quality design artifacts (architecture diagrams, sequence flows, APIs, data models) and maintain clear, traceable documentation.

Knowledgeable of emerging technologies and associated services.

Implement reference implementations, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts to de-risk assumptions and accelerate decision-making.

Write well-structured, testable, and efficient code where appropriate; set engineering quality bars for reliability, observability, and performance.

Establish and enforce non-functional requirements (availability, latency, throughput, recoverability), and define SLOs/SLIs with robust monitoring and alerting

Champion security-by-design and privacy-by-default principles—threat modeling, secure coding, data protection, encryption, and compliance alignment.

Drive integration strategies for legacy and modern systems (APIs, event streaming, messaging, microservices), ensuring interoperability and data integrity.

Guide CI/CD, DevOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices to streamline delivery, reduce risk, and improve release velocity.

Lead technical reviews (design, code, readiness) and provide constructive feedback to elevate engineering standards across teams.

Identify and remediate technical debt strategically—prioritize modernization efforts and build migration paths that minimize disruption.

Mentor and influence engineers without formal line management—uplift skills in architecture, design, testing, and operational excellence.

Expertise in architecting large-scale, distributed systems and producing high-fidelity design artifacts (diagrams, APIs, data models, migration plans). Proficiency in cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), containers and orchestration (Kubernetes), Infrastructure-as-Code, and CI/CD with strong testing, observability, and SRE practices. Strong integration and data skills across APIs, event streaming (e.g., Kafka), and governance, with security-by-design, privacy-by-default, and alignment to regulatory/compliance requirements.

Subject matter expert in at least one of the tools/technologies used in the space.

Executive-ready communication and influence without line management—driving technical strategy, risk management, vendor due diligence, and cross-functional alignment to measurable outcomes

Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required

9-11 years of experience in software development or technology infrastructure engineering required;

experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus. Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans. S/he must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies. Extensive experience with developing and supporting mainframe applications required. Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits.
