Key Responsibilities of a Construction Site Storekeeper:

Construction site storekeepers manage materials through 20 essential serial responsibilities to support project efficiency and safety.

Numbered Responsibilities:

1. Receive incoming materials and verify against delivery notes for quantity and quality.
2. Inspect goods for damage or defects upon arrival.3. Record all receipts in daily stock registers or inventory software.
3. Organize and store materials systematically by type, size, or project needs.
4. Issue materials only on approved requisitions or indents from site staff.
5. Log all issues, returns, and transfers with dates and signatures.
6. Conduct daily stock checks to reconcile physical inventory with records.
7. Report discrepancies, shortages, or overages to the site engineer immediately.
8. Maintain bin cards or stock cards for each material item.
9. Prepare monthly inventory reports and balance summaries.

Coordinate with suppliers for timely deliveries and resolve delays.
11. Keep the store area clean, secure, and free from hazards.
12. Label all storage areas and items clearly for easy access.
13. Track tool and equipment usage, maintenance, and returns.
14. Identify and list surplus materials for return or reuse.
15. File purchase orders, invoices, and delivery challans systematically.
16. Assist in quality checks alongside engineers for incoming supplies.
17. Prevent unauthorized access or removal of stock.
18. Update consumption records to support cost control and reordering.
19. Communicate stock status regularly to project management for planning.

Educational Qualification: Graduate / Diploma in Material Management from a recognized University.
