Role Summary

Senior Software Engineer responsible for building and evolving a React-based common UI component framework that enables consistent, accessible, and scalable front-end experiences across products. This role is UI-focused, driving design-system-led development, reusable components, and enterprise-wide adoption.

Works as a strong individual contributor, delivering high-quality components while influencing engineering teams to adopt standardised UI patterns and practices, contributing to platform-led engineering outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain reusable, responsive UI components and shared libraries using React.
- Define and evolve a common UI framework / design system aligned with accessibility, performance, and usability standards.
- Drive enterprise-wide adoption of common components through enablement, documentation, and collaboration with product teams.
- Translate ambiguous UI requirements into scalable, reusable component designs and implementation patterns.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive design principles.
- Collaborate with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to ensure consistent user experience across applications.
- Lead and contribute to code reviews, improving overall UI quality and maintainability.
- Identify and eliminate duplication by promoting reuse and platform mindset across teams.
- Build reference implementations and accelerators/templates for faster adoption.
- Proactively identify and resolve UI performance, usability, and consistency gaps.
- Mentor engineers on front-end best practices, component design, and modern UI engineering.




- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tooling, and UI standards.

Technical Expectations Core Front-End

- Strong expertise in React (hooks, state management, component design patterns)
- Deep understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, SASS
- Experience in building component libraries, design systems, and UI frameworks

UI Engineering Excellence

- Responsive and adaptive design implementation
- Strong understanding of Web Accessibility standards (WCAG)




- Cross-browser compatibility and performance optimisation
- Modular, reusable, and scalable component architecture

Tools & Practices

- Source control: Git
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for front-end deployment
- Experience with unit and UI testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library)
- Experience with Storybook or similar tools for component-driven development

Integration Awareness (Non-core)

- Familiarity with REST APIs and front-end integration patterns
- Awareness of authentication flows and UI security practices

Professional Skills & Experience

- Experience in building UI for product/SaaS platforms
- Proven experience designing and delivering shared UI/component frameworks

Education & Experience

- Engineering degree in Computer Science or related field
