Mechanical Designer A Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating, developing, and modifying mechanical designs, components, and assemblies using CAD software. The role involves preparing detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation while ensuring designs meet engineering standards, specifications, quality requirements, and manufacturing constraints.

Key Responsibilities

- Create 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

- Develop detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and GD&T.;

- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and engineering documentation.

- Review designs for functionality, manufacturability, cost, safety, and compliance with applicable standards.

- Modify and improve existing designs based on engineering requirements, customer feedback, and manufacturing inputs.

- Coordinate with production teams, vendors, and other departments to resolve design and manufacturing issues.

- Perform basic engineering calculations and select appropriate materials, components, and hardware.

- Support prototype development, testing, and design validation.

- Incorporate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) into drawings and models.

- Ensure drawing revisions, document control, and design data are maintained accurately.





- Conduct design reviews and assist in troubleshooting mechanical and production-related problems.

- Follow company standards, engineering practices, and relevant industry codes.

Required Skills

- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor.

- Good understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.

- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerances, fits, and engineering drawing standards.

- Understanding of materials, machining, sheet metal, welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

- Positive problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Qualifications

- ITI/ Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.

- Experience in mechanical design or drafting is preferred.

- Familiarity with MS Office and engineering documentation systems is an advantage.
