Purpose of the Role:

To manage the Tool Store operations effectively, ensuring timely availability of consumable and non‑consumable tools, coordination with procurement, vendors, and internal teams, along with driving tool development initiatives for cost, quality, and productivity improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Tool Store & Inventory Management

- Maintain accurate inventory of all tools and consumables using systematic tracking and SAP tools.
- Ensure zero discrepancies through periodic physical verification and disciplined record‑keeping.
- Plan and ensure uninterrupted tool availability for all production shops.

Tool Procurement & Vendor Coordination

- Participate in tool procurement activities including RFQs, technical evaluations, and supplier negotiations.
- Coordinate with tool suppliers for trials, validation, troubleshooting, and performance benchmarking.
- Follow up with vendors for timely deliveries and quality compliance.

Tool Development & Productivity Improvement

- Lead initiatives for new tool development with focus on cost reduction, tool life improvement, and productivity enhancement.
- Conduct feasibility studies for alternative tools, materials, or processes.
- Support cross‑functional teams in implementing tool optimization projects.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

- Ensure safe handling, storage, and issuance of tools as per safety norms.
- Execute routine material audits and compliance checks.
- Maintain clean, organized, and audit‑ready tool stores.

Desired Candidate Profile

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience





- Cutting tools development and selection
- Troubleshooting and optimization
- Procurement and vendor management
- Tool store operations

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

- Basic to intermediate computer proficiency
- Knowledge of cutting tools, grinding, regrinding etc.
- Understanding of machining processes

Behavioral & Managerial Skills

- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving ability
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines
- Knowledge of safety practices in material handling and storage
