Purpose of the Role :This role is responsible for leading the design and development of suspension structural components that meet vehicle‑level performance, cost, weight, and timing targets. The position focuses on delivering robust, lightweight, and cost‑effective designs with strong manufacturability and production feasibility, while ensuring alignment with durability, NVH, crash, and safety requirements. The role requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams and suppliers across the full product development lifecycle, from concept through production launch.Job Responsibilities :Lead the design and development of suspension structural components to meet vehicle‑level performance targets for strength, stiffness, NVH, durability, crash, cost, weight, and timing. Create and release high‑quality 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, including GD&T; application and tolerance stack‑up analysis, in line with engineering standards. Design suspension mechanisms and perform kinematic studies to define and finalize suspension hardpoints in collaboration with vehicle dynamics and CAE teams. Work closely with CAE teams to ensure design robustness through effective correlation of structural FEA, NVH, durability, and crash analyses. Drive material selection (steel, aluminium, composites) and manufacturing concept decisions by balancing performance, cost, weight, and production feasibility. Apply lightweighting and value engineering strategies through VAVE initiatives, structural optimization, and adoption of new materials or technologies. Manage design releases, engineering changes, and technical documentation using PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter), ensuring configuration control and traceability. Support prototype builds, validation testing, and issue resolution through launch and production ramp‑up, collaborating closely with manufacturing and suppliers. Conduct trade‑off studies, identify technical risks, and support mitigation plans to ensure timely and robust program delivery. Collaborate cross‑functionally with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, cost Engineering, suppliers, and program teams throughout the product development cycle. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices, standards,
and lessons learned to continuously improve suspension design capability.Desired Candidate Profile :Qualification: BE/B. Tech - Mechanical /Automotive EngineeringWork Experience: 3 to 10 yearsStrong proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drawings (Creo, CATIA, NX), including GD&T; application and tolerance stack‑up analysis. Deep expertise in suspension and chassis structural design, including subframes, cross members, control arms, knuckles, mounts, isolation bushes, ball joints, bolted joints, and welded structures. Strong understanding of suspension systems, hardpoints. Proven capability in load path optimization for stiffness, durability, crashworthiness, and fatigue life.
Experience with multi‑material chassis integration (steel, aluminium, composites, CFRP) and advanced lightweighting strategies, including topology optimization and VAVE initiatives. Ability to interpret, challenge, and correlate CAE results (structural FEA, NVH, durability, crash) and work effectively with analysis teams. Hands‑on experience with prototype builds, durability validation (4‑poster rigs, proving ground correlation), and issue resolution during production ramp‑up. Solid knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, DFMEA, DFS, DFA, and cost‑effective design for manufacturability and assembly.
Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) for design release, change management, and technical documentation. Capability to lead NVH refinement activities at chassis‑to‑body interfaces.
Experience with EV chassis packaging and new technology integration. Strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills, including supplier technical assessments and audits. Ability to lead cross‑site teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage offshore engineering service providers. Familiarity with ISO/TS standards applicable to suspension and chassis components. Demonstrated ability to achieve weight and performance targets without compromising safety, quality, or durability.
Track record of innovation, including patents, publications, or technical contributions in suspension or chassis systems.
