Purpose of the Role
This is an Integration & Program Manager role in Tata Motors' Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) and connected car platform. The person brings together all the pieces of a vehicle programme — mechanical systems, electronics, and software — and makes sure they come together on time as a complete, tested, and release-ready product for both India and global markets.
This is a delivery and coordination role, not a hands-on development role. Working as Scrum Master for one or more programme streams, the person runs the delivery process — planning, prioritising, tracking progress, and clearing roadblocks — and is accountable for the programme plan, supplier coordination, issue closure, and gateway sign-offs from early build through to Start of Production. We welcome engineers from both mechanical and electronics backgrounds; what matters most is strong programme delivery, integration thinking, and the ability to coordinate teams across domains.
Job ResponsibilitiesSystem Integration &
• Delivery• Bring together mechanical, electronics, and software subsystems into complete, tested vehicle builds.
• Plan the integration roadmap and map dependencies across teams so nothing is missed and work happens in the right order.
• Coordinate deliverables from internal teams and suppliers, and keep versions and configurations aligned.
• Set up and manage test benches and vehicle prototypes for step-by-step integration and early problem detection.
• Track integration progress and drive quick resolution of any blockers with the responsible teams.
• Ensure builds are ready for release, including over-the-air (OTA) software updates where applicable.Connected Car &
• SDV Coordination• Coordinate delivery of connected features — remote commands, OTA updates, navigation, and subscription services.
• Keep the vehicle, mobile app, and cloud teams aligned so their releases land on a common timeline.
• Work within the SDV architecture (centralised and zonal electronics) across concurrent programmes.
• Track connected-feature readiness against market needs for India and global regions. Programme Management &
• Gateway Delivery• Turn programme milestones and gateway requirements into clear, trackable delivery plans.
• Maintain the integrated programme schedule, flagging critical-path risks and dependency clashes early.
• Own resource planning, budgeting, and cost estimation across concurrent streams.
• Run the risk and issue register, drive actions to closure,
and escalate blockers with clear options.
• Prepare engineering sign-offs for Pre-Production and Start of Production gateways.
• Own gateway and functional audits, keeping the programme audit-ready at all times.
• Prepare status dashboards and readiness scorecards for senior management reviews.Scrum Master &
• Delivery Process• Serve as Scrum Master for one or more streams — running the delivery cadence as a management process.
• Facilitate planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives across cross-functional teams.
• Own and prioritise the delivery backlog so work is well-defined and sequenced against gateways.
• Track delivery health against milestones and remove impediments blocking the teams.
• Protect teams from scope churn while agreeing realistic commitments with technical leads.
• Apply Agile / SAFe ways of working within the automotive V-model and ASPICE gates. Quality, Root-Cause &
• Issue Closure• Drive root-cause analysis on integration and validation issues and enable timely corrections.
• Track, prioritise, and close issues using structured 8D methods with the responsible functions.
• Analyse field and test failures, coordinate reproduction, and follow corrective actions to closure.
• Keep requirements linked to test evidence to satisfy ASPICE and functional-safety needs.Collaboration &
• Coordination• Work daily with mechanical, electronics, software, and supplier teams to align interfaces and timelines.
• Coordinate with global engineering centres (North America, Europe) for convergence across markets.
• Lead cross-domain review forums, driving clearance checks before build and validation.
• Align with customer-experience teams on feature targets against benchmarks.
• Mentor engineers on integration planning, gateway discipline, and Agile ways of working.Desired Candidate Profile
- B.E./B.Tech/ M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Automotive, Mechatronics, with relevant certifications (CSM/PSM, PMP, ASPICE, SAFe)
- Minimum 6 years total work experience,
with robust hands-on integration and program-delivery experience in automotive.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience running cross-functional delivery as Scrum Master and/or coordinating engineering programs.
- Demonstrated ownership of gateway/milestone-driven delivery and gateway audits in an OEM or Tier-1 environment.
