Role Purpose
Lead end-to-end production operations for the Powertrain Machine Shop, ensuring achievement of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Delivery, Morale, and Environment (SQPDCME) objectives. Drive operational excellence through robust production management, quality systems, TPM deployment, process optimization, manpower development, and continuous improvement initiatives across engine machining operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Lead daily machine shop operations to achieve production, quality, cost and delivery targets.
- Ensure adherence to production plans and customer demand requirements.
- Drive Daily Production Reviews (DPR), OEE improvement, loss analysis and action tracking.
- Monitor and improve line efficiency, throughput and capacity utilization.
- Manage shift performance and ensure smooth shop-floor operations.
- Drive achievement of SQPDCME metrics across the manufacturing line.
Machining Process Excellence
- Manage machining operations involving engine components such as Crankcase, Cylinder Head and Crankshaft systems.
- Drive process stabilization and optimization of machining, honing, drilling, milling, boring, grinding and finishing operations.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), line setup, commissioning and production ramp-up activities.
- Lead debottlenecking initiatives to improve capacity and productivity.
- Ensure process capability, machine utilization and cycle time optimization.
Quality Management
- Lead containment, root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and quality concerns.
- Drive zero-defect manufacturing and rejection reduction initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to IATF 16949 requirements and manufacturing quality systems.

- Ensure adherence to statutory requirements and organizational safety standards.
- Champion zero-accident manufacturing practices.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, coach and develop production teams to achieve operational excellence.
- Drive capability building through technical and on-the-job training programs.
- Handle manpower planning, engagement, conflict management and IR-related matters.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, IE, SCM and other support functions for issue resolution.
- Lead cross-functional teams to drive sustainable business improvements.
Education & Experience
Essential
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
- 8-15 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, machine shop production, engine manufacturing or powertrain machining operations.
