Fixtures & Dimensional Maintenance (Body Shop / BIW)

Purpose of the Role To ensure dimensional accuracy and operational readiness of BIW fixtures, checking fixtures, geo fixtures, repot fixtures, and production tooling through preventive maintenance, breakdown resolution, dimensional validation, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain BIW production fixtures, geo fixtures, respot fixtures, framing stations, and welding tools.
- Carry out preventive and predictive maintenance activities as per schedule.
- Reduction in MTTR and MTBF and the improvement in quality of the Tooling's . Spare part maintenance.
- Knowledge of the Pneumatics and Hydraulics systems , circuits andhands on experience on the problem solving related to this.
- Analyze and resolve fixture-related dimensional issues affecting vehicle quality.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Process Engineering, and Tooling teams for issue resolution.
- Conduct fixture audits and maintain dimensional accuracy within specified tolerances.
- Support model changes, engineering changes, and new project launches.
- Monitor fixture wear and tear and initiate refurbishment activities.
- Familiar with Tool room activities and the process Knowledge.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for dimensional concerns and implement corrective actions in House as well Out House ( Supplier End )
- Sheet metal ( BIW related )Process knowledge, product characteristics and change due to welding processand Corrective actions , RCA
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and TPM requirements.
- Maintain maintenance records, breakdown history, and improvement documentation.
- Support CMM measurement activities and dimensional validation studies.
- Drive cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of the PEEMA , Process sheet ,



control Plan and the DVA analysis .
- Part Drawing reading , GD&T; knowledge .

Required Technical Skills

- Knowledge of BIW fixture concepts and locating principles (3-2-1 principle).
- Understanding of GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- CMM measurement and dimensional analysis.SPC Knowledge
- Fixture adjustment and shimming techniques.
- Welding fixtures, Geo fixtures, Respot fixtures, and checking fixtures.
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems troubleshooting.
- Root Cause Analysis tools (Why-Why, Fishbone, 8D).
- Reading and interpretation of engineering drawings.
- AutoCAD/CATIA basic knowledge.
- PM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Engineering Graduate with 4-8 years of experience.
- In depth knowledge of end to end Experience in Automobiles & Skill levels as per the special needs pertaining to the area allocated.
