Job Title: Senior Manager Legal

Location/Unit: Corporate Office, CK Birla Hospitals, Kolkata

Position Reports to: AVP Legal

Main Objective of the Role The position is primarily responsible for handling litigation (E.g. consumer disputes, title suits and money suits, cheques bouncing cases, medical negligence cases and other criminal matters), general advisory, drafting of SOPs, imparting training etc. Knowledge of documentation & Compliance management will be an added advantage as some work relating to documentation & Compliance is also expected.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintaining MIS relating to all pending litigations.
- Perusing the pleadings /files of cases and preparing summary, gist, list of dates, index of documents etc.
- Coordinating with all lawyers and solicitors and all internal stake holders in the Units in collection of all facts and assimilating the same for the preparation of pleadings etc.
- Drafting and finalizing the pleadings etc. to be filed in the cases, strategizing the cases along with the risk analysis of the same.
- Conducting research on the case laws as and when required.
- Attending conferences with the lawyers, attending various courts and forums as and when required and keeping abreast with all developments in the industry including circulation of judgments.




- Preparing replies for filing before the WB Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission and coordinating with all teams for the same.
- Attending the matters before the Commission
- Drafting of Legal Notices, FIRs, follow up letters and replies relating to outstanding and filing arbitration and other proceedings.
- Keeping abreast with all Latest notifications, laws and rules applicable to the healthcare industry
- Assisting the units in any kind of support in documentation & compliance management and giving general advisory in operational matters
- Drafting different kinds of agreements for the units and SOPs on need basis and assisting in the legal operation of the units.
- Conducting trainings on SOPs and/or any other legal topics for raising the awareness level in the hospital units.
