Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced manufacturing professional to lead Engine Assembly and Testing operations within our Passenger Vehicle Powertrain Manufacturing function. The role will be responsible for delivering world-class performance across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Productivity, and Morale while driving operational excellence throughout engine assembly, end-of-line testing, process capability enhancement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The incumbent will play a key role in ensuring defect-free engine production, achieving production commitments, improving equipment and process effectiveness, and supporting new product introductions through robust manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Engine Assembly Operations

- Lead end-to-end Engine Assembly operations to consistently achieve production targets.
- Ensure adherence to takt time, production schedules, manpower deployment, and capacity utilization.
- Drive line balancing and throughput improvement initiatives across engine assembly lines.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and manufacturing standards.

Engine Testing & Validation

- Lead End-of-Line (EOL) testing activities including performance validation, leak testing, torque verification, and functional checks.
- Ensure compliance with engine quality standards and testing protocols.
- Drive improvement in First Time Right (FTR), First Pass Yield (FPY), and defect reduction metrics.
- Monitor critical quality parameters and implement corrective actions for deviations.

Quality & Process Excellence

- Drive robust problem-solving using RCA, Why-Why Analysis, 8D, Fishbone, FMEA, and other quality methodologies.
- Lead initiatives to reduce in-process defects, warranty issues, rework, and customer complaints.
- Ensure process audits, layered audits, quality gate reviews, and control plan adherence.
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to drive sustained quality improvements.

Safety, Cost & Productivity

- Foster a robust culture of safety and ensure compliance with all EHS requirements.
- Drive OEE improvement, productivity enhancement, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Lead TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and continuous improvement projects.
- Eliminate production losses and manufacturing bottlenecks through data-driven interventions.





New Product & Capacity Expansion

- Support new engine programs, model launches, process validation, and capacity enhancement initiatives.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams for smooth project execution.
- Ensure readiness of assembly and testing systems prior to production launch.

Team Leadership

- Lead and develop a team of engineers, supervisors, and shop-floor associates.
- Drive employee capability development, performance management, and succession planning.
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Candidate Profile

Education

- FULL-TIME REGULAR B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience

- 10 to 15 years of experience in automotive or powertrain manufacturing.
- Proven experience in Engine Assembly, Engine Testing, Powertrain Manufacturing, or Engine Quality functions.
- Experience managing high-volume manufacturing operations in an automotive OEM environment.
- Exposure to new product launches, quality improvement initiatives, and manufacturing excellence programs will be preferred.
