Brief Role Description
Lead the Electrical, Automation, PLC, CNC and Equipment Maintenance function for the Crankshaft Manufacturing Line, ensuring maximum equipment availability, productivity enhancement, reliability improvement, breakdown reduction, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across machining and grinding operations. Responsible for maintenance strategy, manpower management, TPM deployment, and execution of productivity and cost-reduction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability Management
- Lead preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities for crankshaft machining and grinding lines.
- Ensure high equipment availability and reliability of CNC machines, grinding machines, gantry systems, lapping machines, hardening machines, balancing machines and conveyor systems.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and permanent corrective actions for recurring equipment failures.
- Manage central coolant systems and associated utility equipment for grinding operations.
- Ensure optimum machine health through condition monitoring and planned maintenance practices.
Electrical, CNC & Automation Systems
- Fanuc CNC Systems
- Siemens Controllers (802D SL, 828D, 840D)
- Siemens S7-200 / S7-300 PLCs
- Profibus-based automation networks
- Makino CNC Machines
- Manage PLC, CNC and machine backup systems.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, automation and controls-related machine issues.
- Support program modifications, parameter management and controller diagnostics.
Mechanical Systems & Specialized Equipment
- Maintenance of spindle assemblies, ATC systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Spindle run-out correction and resolution of machining quality issues arising from equipment conditions.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of Landis, Komatsu NTC and other crankshaft grinding lines.
- Ensure process capability and equipment accuracy through effective maintenance practices.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization
- Drive TPM implementation and equipment reliability improvement initiatives.
- Lead debottlenecking projects to improve throughput and line productivity.
- Implement energy-saving and power cost reduction initiatives.
- Drive cost reduction, maintenance optimization and productivity improvement projects.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Safety,
Quality & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture across maintenance operations.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, TPM, TQM, DWM and statutory safety requirements.
- Support zero breakdown, zero accident and zero defect manufacturing objectives.
- Ensure adherence to maintenance standards, audit requirements and shop-floor governance systems.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop maintenance manpower, contractors and support teams.
- Manage cross-functional coordination with Production, Quality, Utilities, Projects, SCM and other support functions.
- Handle employee relations, conflict resolution and workforce engagement.
- Drive capability development and technical skill enhancement within the maintenance team.
Education & Experience
Essential
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in maintenance of CNC machining, grinding or crankshaft manufacturing lines within automotive, auto-component, powertrain or precision machining industries.
