Tax Senior – Direct Tax – TLB & co

Job Summary The Tax - Senior will be responsible for handling and supporting various aspects of direct tax compliance, tax assessments, advisory, and related matters for clients. The role involves coordinating with clients and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax-related assignments. The Tax Senior will play a key role in maintaining compliance with applicable direct tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tax Compliance

- Prepare and review various direct tax returns and related filings accurately and within prescribed timelines.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable direct tax laws and regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulatory requirements.

2. Tax Advisory and Planning

- Assist in providing tax opinions and recommendations on various business transactions and initiatives.
- Support the team in identifying tax-productive structures and planning opportunities.
- Conduct research on direct tax matters and prepare technical notes where required.
- Perform social security analysis for internationally mobile employees, including advising on social security obligations, totalization agreements, and applicable contribution frameworks across jurisdictions.
- Conduct Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) analysis, including interpreting and applying tax treaty provisions to determine residency, source rules, and relief from double taxation in cross-border scenarios.

3. Client and Internal Coordination

- Coordinate with clients to obtain the necessary information and documentation for tax compliance and advisory assignments.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure timely completion of assignments.




- Address routine client queries relating to direct tax matters.

4. Assessment and Audit Support

- Assist in the preparation and submission of responses to notices, assessments, and other communications from tax authorities.
- Prepare and organize documentation required for tax assessments and audits.
- Support audit teams by providing necessary tax-related information and clearances.

5. Risk Management

- Identify potential tax issues and risks during the course of assignments and escalate them to the Manager/Partner.
- Assist in ensuring that client assignments are carried out in compliance with applicable laws and internal procedures.

6. Reporting and Documentation

- Prepare tax computations, reports, workings, and other relevant documentation.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for all client assignments.
- Assist in analysing the financial impact of tax-related decisions and changes in tax laws.

7. Team Support and Development

- Guide and support junior team members in the completion of routine assignments.
- Share relevant updates on changes in tax laws and regulations with the team.
- Stay updated on developments in tax compliance software and other relevant tools.

Qualification and Skills

- Chartered Accountant (CA) with a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in Direct Tax.
- Experience in global mobility tax work, including advising on cross-border employment arrangements, expatriate taxation, and related compliance matters.
- Sound knowledge of direct tax laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and other relevant tax compliance tools.
