Role Description The Senior Case Worker is a full-time on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for managing complex child protection cases and providing direct support to children at risk on and around transport hubs and in nearby communities. This role involves conducting assessments, developing individualized care plans, coordinating interventions with internal teams and external stakeholders, and ensuring that each child is safely rehabilitated or reunified with family or appropriate care services.
The Senior Case
Worker will maintain detailed case records, monitor progress,
and advocate for children’s needs with government agencies, partner NGOs, and community members. Day-to-day tasks include outreach, crisis response, counseling support, facilitation of access to education and health services, and mentoring junior case workers to strengthen overall case management quality.
Qualifications
- Strong case management and child protection skills, including assessment, care planning, and follow-up.
- Experience in community outreach and engagement with vulnerable children, families, and local stakeholders.
- Ability to provide basic counseling support and psychosocial care to children and families.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local languages relevant to Mumbai.
- Proven ability to collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
- Organizational and documentation skills for maintaining accurate case files and reports.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field.
- Prior experience in child rights, street-connected children, or related social sector work is highly desirable.
- Comfort working in field settings around transport hubs and urban communities, with a strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
