Senior Business Analyst
Experience – 8 – 10 years
Location – Remote
Required Qualifications:
- Domain knowledge of securities trading and clearing operations, including equities, mutual funds, fixed income, options, account onboarding, ACATS transfers, trade settlement, books and records, positions, cost basis, corporate actions, margin, and regulatory requirements.
- Solid business analysis skills — requirements elicitation, solutions identification, and risk analysis — applied to technology platforms supporting securities or wealth management operations.
- Experience building or supporting technology platforms for a broker-dealer, custodian, or clearing firm.
- Familiarity with securities operations concepts and terminology: broker-dealer and clearing firm operations, custody, securities operations, wealth management platforms, books & records, trade processing, settlement, corporate actions, ACATS, FIX Protocol, equities, mutual funds, options, margin, and cost basis.
- Familiarity with industry infrastructure and regulatory bodies such as DTCC, NSCC, and FINRA.
- Experience with industry platforms such as Pershing, Schwab Advisor Services, Fidelity Clearing & Custody, Apex Clearing, or BetaNXT.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Tools: ADO, Jira, or similar (no strong preference; adaptability assumed at senior level)
- Availability for US business hours, with occasional extended hours for weekly software releases and production issue sessions. UAT ownership expected. The Ideal candidate “lives and breathes” the system, knows edge cases, and acts as the quality gate before production
About This Job: Analyzes information technology (IT) requirements in business processes through requirements elicitation, solutions identification, risk analysis, and collaboration across IT teams.
This role supports technology platforms used in securities trading and clearing operations, and requires solid domain knowledge of the brokerage and custody business — including equities, mutual funds, fixed income, and options; account onboarding and ACATS transfers; trade processing and settlement; books and records; positions and cost basis; corporate actions; margin; and applicable regulatory requirements. Candidates do not need to be traders, but should be comfortable translating these business concepts into clear technical requirements.
- Develops documents for IT applications, system specifications, and test plans for broker-dealer, custody, and clearing platforms, according to existing standards and methodologies.
- Elicits the requirements needed to carry out business processes across securities operations — including account onboarding, ACATS transfers, trade processing and settlement, corporate actions, and books and records — through interviews, intelligence analysis, and survey assessments.
- Translates business needs, processes, and procedures specific to broker-dealer and wealth management operations into workable systems, and articulates specific software requirements by communicating with technology experts and business stakeholders.
- Works closely with business architects and other technology staff to deliver project results on securities operations initiatives, implementing risk analysis and meeting required deliverables.
- Analyzes business requirements related to trade processing, settlement, positions, cost basis, and margin.
- Assists in preparing project plans for wealth management platform and securities operations technology initiatives.
- Conducts research to support project analysis, including regulatory requirements (e.g., FINRA) and industry infrastructure (e.g., DTCC, NSCC).
- Develops and maintains project documentation, including books and records requirements and system specifications.
