Marklytics

Marklytics builds and runs Digital Battery Passport programmes for global EV manufacturers under EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542. We are hiring a senior battery engineer to own the battery domain across those programmes.

The Role

This is a senior technical delivery role with a wide remit. You will sit between our clients' battery and BMS engineering teams, their cell and pack suppliers, and our regulatory, platform, and delivery teams. You will determine what data the passport requires, what the BMS and telematics stack can actually produce, and what needs to be obtained from the cell manufacturer, and you will lead those conversations directly.

What You'll Do

- Own the battery workstream across live DBP programmes running in parallel for multiple OEMs
- Interrogate BMS and telematics outputs against the passport data model: which signals exist, at what resolution, how often they refresh, how they are estimated, and how far they can be trusted
- Lead the dynamic parameter workstream: state of health, state of certified energy, remaining capacity and power capability, cycle count, energy throughput, round-trip efficiency evolution, temperature and negative-event history. Define how each is derived, sourced, and refreshed across the battery's life
- Map static battery attributes: chemistry, cell and module construction, materials and their origin, manufacturing site, carbon footprint inputs, performance and durability characteristics
- Lead technical engagement with cell manufacturers and pack integrators. Review data interface specifications and field lists, run clarification cycles, agree update cadence and identifier reconciliation, and resolve gaps and disputes in the data
- Support supplier qualification and technical due diligence: specification review, benchmarking, and assessing whether a supplier can meet its data and traceability obligations
- Produce client-ready deliverables: data source assessments, attribute mapping matrices, compliance gap registers, supplier question sets, interface requirement documents

- Establish reusable battery methodology: assessment templates, a common attribute library, and documentation that scales across programmes
- Act as the internal technical reference on batteries for platform engineering, regulatory, and leadership
- Run workshops and technical reviews with OEM engineering, procurement, and sustainability teams
- Travel internationally to client and supplier sites, primarily Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia

What We're Looking For
- 6+ years hands-on in battery engineering, battery systems, or battery data, on EV or comparable large-format packs
- Genuine depth in BMS: cell monitoring, balancing, thermal management, SOC and SOH estimation methods and their limitations, protection and safety logic, and communication protocols including CAN, LIN, UDS, and Modbus
- Ability to read BMS logs, signal databases (DBC or similar), and API or interface documentation, and to state precisely what exists, what is missing, and what is required
- Practical understanding of how battery data moves from cell to pack to vehicle to cloud, including telematics and OTA constraints
- Experience engaging cell suppliers or pack integrators on technical specifications, from an engineering, quality, or sourcing seat
- Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy and being the technical authority in client-facing settings
- Ability to hold several programmes concurrently and prioritise well across them
- Robust written technical communication. You can turn a signal-level finding into a document a client's programme lead can act on
- A disciplined approach to documentation

Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542, particularly Annex XIII data requirements, the static and dynamic split, and economic operator obligations
- Exposure to battery traceability, supply chain due diligence, or sustainability reporting
- LCA or PCF experience for batteries
- Prior work with EV OEMs, tier-1 cell manufacturers, or pack integrators
- Cell chemistry breadth across LFP and NMC, plus second-life and end-of-life data considerations
- Consulting or client-facing delivery background
