We are a high-velocity, fast-growing startup developing high-throughput, secure backend platforms and user-facing digital products. We are seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer with 4 to 8 years of solid hands-on engineering experience in JavaScript, Node.js, RESTful API architecture, and OAuth 2.0 security protocols to join our core engineering team on-site in Hyderabad.

In this role, you will take end-to-end technical ownership of backend systems, architect resilient microservices, secure authentication flows, and collaborate closely with founders and cross-functional teams to build enterprise-grade software from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

- Backend & API Engineering: Architect, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and low-latency RESTful APIs and microservices using Node.js.
- Authentication & Authorization: Design and manage identity flows using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JSON Web Tokens (JWT), and role-based access controls (RBAC).
- Identity Management (Okta): Implement, integrate, or learn identity provider solutions (such as Okta) to manage Single Sign-On (SSO), user directory services, and API authorization servers.
- Database Architecture & Optimization: Design data models, optimize complex queries, and manage indexing strategies across relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis) systems.
- System Reliability & Scalability: Mitigate performance bottlenecks, prevent event-loop delays, and implement effective caching (Redis)



and asynchronous messaging queues.
- Startup Collaboration: Work on-site alongside product managers, designers, and engineering leadership to rapidly iterate from design specifications to production releases.
- Engineering Quality: Write automated unit, integration, and security tests; conduct peer code reviews; and support CI/CD release pipelines.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

- 4-8 years of dedicated backend engineering experience utilizing modern JavaScript (ES6+) / TypeScript and Node.js (Express.js, Fastify, or NestJS).
- OAuth 2.0 & REST Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of REST architectural principles and hands-on experience implementing OAuth 2.0 grant types (Authorization Code with PKCE, Client Credentials, Refresh Tokens) and token validation pipelines.
- Database Management: Demonstrated proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, including ORM/ODM frameworks (Prisma, TypeORM, Mongoose) and query optimization.
- Okta / Identity Solutions: Prior experience integrating Okta (or comparable IdP platforms such as Auth0 or AWS Cognito) OR a proven aptitude and strong willingness to learn and adopt Okta quickly.
- Testing & DevOps: Experience with automated testing suites (Jest, Mocha) and containerization tools (Docker).
- Startup Aptitude: High degree of ownership, comfortable with fast-paced sprint cycles, and proactive in solving ambiguous technical challenges.
