Job Summary

The Boiler Operator is responsible for ensuring continuous and efficient steam supply for food processing operations such as frying, baking, and cleaning processes in a high-speed FMCG manufacturing plant. The role supports production uptime, safety, and energy efficiency.

The company operates contemporary automated snack production lines and relies heavily on utilities like steam and heat systems for large-scale manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Boiler Operations
- Operate steam boilers (oil/gas/biomass-based) for snack production processes
- Maintain required pressure and temperature for fryers, extruders, and processing lines
- Start, stop, and regulate boiler systems as per production demand

Utility Support (FMCG Specific)
- Ensure uninterrupted steam supply for:
- Frying systems (potato wafers, namkeen)
- Baking lines (rusk, khari, bakery items)
- Cleaning (CIP systems)




- Coordinate with production team to match steam load with batch/line requirements

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Conduct routine checks of boiler, pumps, valves, pipelines
- Identify issues like pressure fluctuation, leakage, scaling
- Support maintenance team for breakdown and preventive maintenance

Water Treatment & Efficiency
- Monitor boiler feed water quality (TDS, hardness, pH)
- Maintain chemical dosing and softener plant
- Optimize fuel consumption and reduce steam losses

Documentation & Logs
- Maintain boiler logbook (pressure, temp, fuel usage)
- Record daily consumption and efficiency reports
- Report abnormalities to utility/engineering head

Safety & Compliance
- Follow IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) and plant safety SOPs
- Ensure safety valves, alarms, and interlocks are functional
- Handle emergency situations (trip, low water level, pressure rise)
