GIS Specialist - Spatial Data & Database Management

Job Overview

We are looking for a professional who can lead the transformation of legacy survey data into high-fidelity GIS assets and manage the spatial database architecture for large-scale analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Conversion & Geometry Engineering
- Convert complex PDF and CAD (DWG/DXF) survey files into GIS-ready polygons while ensuring zero loss of spatial context.
- Perform exact georeferencing of non-spatial CAD drawings using ground control points (GCPs) or satellite imagery.
- Digitize and attribute features with high topological accuracy, avoiding slivers, overlaps, and gaps.
- Manage seamless data flow between AutoCAD, ArcGIS/QGIS, and Google Earth (KML/KMZ).

2. QA/QC & Layer Validation
- Implement and execute topology rules to ensure data integrity across multiple layers.
- Create and maintain data dictionaries to ensure metadata and attribute tables are populated accurately and consistently.




- Systematically log data discrepancies during conversion and manage the “Correction-Recheck” lifecycle.

3. Spatial Database Management (PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
- Design and optimize spatial databases for high-performance querying of large datasets.
- Utilize PostGIS functions (e.g., ST_Intersects, ST_Buffer, ST_Area, ST_Union) for automated data processing and reporting.
- Write complex SQL joins and create spatial indexes (GIST) to handle huge-scale datasets without performance degradation.
- Develop triggers or stored procedures to automate routine data validation tasks within the database.

4. Large-Scale Mapping & Remote Sensing
- Process and analyze multi-temporal satellite imagery or LiDAR data at regional or national scale.
- Implement raster-to-vector workflows to extract insights from remote sensing data (e.g., land cover classification or change detection).
- Manage tiling strategies (vector/raster tiles) for web-map consumption of large-scale datasets.
