The role

We are hiring a part-time Science Tutor to teach biology and chemistry to two students, aged 10 and 11, through live online sessions. Sessions run on US morning hours, which falls in the evening and night in India, Monday to Friday.

This is foundational science taught properly. Not advanced coursework pulled forward, and not a watered-down version of it either. A 10-year-old does not need organic chemistry. A 10-year-old does need to know what an atom is made of, what an electron does, what makes something an ion, and how a cell works. Get those right and everything after has somewhere to sit.

Most of each session is the student working through a problem and explaining what they think is happening while you ask why. Physics is already covered by another teacher on the team.

What you will do

- Run live online sessions with two students, aged 10 and 11, Monday to Friday
- Teach the foundations of chemistry: atoms, elements, electrons, ions, bonding, states of matter, and what a reaction actually is
- Teach the foundations of biology: cells, body systems, classification of living things, and how organisms interact with their environment
- Use demonstrations, simple experiments,



and everyday examples so concepts land rather than get memorised
- Build a progression across the term rather than teaching one-off lessons
- Check understanding by having students explain concepts back in their own words
- Document student progress in our internal dashboard
- Use and help integrate AI tools into lesson preparation and teaching

What we are looking for

- Experience teaching science to children, with a track record of getting foundational concepts to stick
- Solid grounding in both biology and chemistry, with the judgement to pitch each concept correctly for a 10 and 11 year old
- Excellent command of spoken English, suitable for teaching American students
- Ability to explain a concept more than one way when the first way does not work
- Comfort using technology for online teaching and an interest in using AI tools to enhance learning
- Availability Monday to Friday on US morning hours

Preferred

- Has previously taught students between the ages of 10 and 15
- Has taught international students
- Understands how to devise curriculums and lesson plans rather than working from someone else's material

Details

- Location: Remote, India
- Hours: 4 to 6 hours per week, Monday to Friday, evening and night IST
- Rate: 500 rupees per hour
