Role Description The Rotomation Artist will be responsible for creating accurate character and object animation based on live-action plates, ensuring seamless integration between CG elements and filmed footage. This is a full time remote role focused on frame-by-frame analysis, building and refining rigs, matching motion to reference, and maintaining consistency across shots.

Daily tasks include collaborating with matchmove, animation, and compositing teams, interpreting production notes, troubleshooting technical issues, and delivering clean, production-ready rotomation that supports downstream VFX work.



The artist will also be expected to meet production deadlines, follow established pipeline and naming conventions, and maintain high-quality standards across all assigned shots.

Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in rotomation and matchmove workflows, including experience with industry-standard tools (e.g., Maya, 3D Equalizer, or similar).
- Solid understanding of animation principles, character mechanics, and camera tracking, with the ability to translate live-action performance into precise CG motion.
- Experience working within VFX pipelines, collaborating with roto, paint, compositing, and 3D teams, and following production documentation and shot tracking systems.
- Ability to interpret storyboards, layouts, and reference footage, with strong attention to detail, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills, reliability in a remote work environment, and the ability to manage time effectively to meet tight production schedules.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Animation, VFX, Computer Graphics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Previous studio experience on feature films, TV series, commercials, or streaming content is an advantage.
