Dodo Payments is the Monetisation Engine for AI-native products. We're a Merchant of Record Billing & Monetization platform that helps SaaS, AI, and digital businesses accept payments globally, automate billing (subscriptions, usage-based, one-time), and stay fully compliant with taxes and regulations in 220 countries.

We're building the growth engine that powers global digital commerce, and we’re looking for a sharp, driven Risk Onboarding Analyst to help take that mission forward.

This is an on-site role in Bengaluru, reporting directly to the Risk Lead.

You will have weekend shifts as well.

What You’ll Own

- Merchant onboarding risk quality
- Approval and rejection decisions for new merchants
- Identification of prohibited and restricted businesses
- Onboarding fraud and chargeback risk outcomes
- Onboarding SLAs and escalation timelines
- Audit-ready risk documentation

If bad merchants get onboarded, this role owns fixing it.

What You’ll Do

Merchant Business Model Review

- Analyze and understand merchant business models during onboarding
- Assess products, pricing, refund flows, and customer journeys
- Identify opaque, misleading, or high-risk operating structures

Policy and Regulatory Screening

- Identify prohibited and restricted businesses based on internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and card network rules
- Ensure onboarding decisions align with risk appetite and partner requirements

Risk-Based KYC and KYB

- Perform risk-based KYC and KYB reviews for merchants
- Validate business ownership, control, and operational legitimacy
- Identify inconsistencies or gaps requiring clarification or escalation





Chargeback and Dispute Risk Assessment

- Assess chargeback and dispute risk at onboarding
- Understand expected chargeback and dispute ratios by business model
- Identify business models historically prone to high disputes

Fraud Red Flag Identification

- Identify fraud indicators during onboarding, including shell or front businesses
- Detect mismatched business, ownership, or operational details
- Flag unclear or deceptive products, pricing, or refund policies

SLAs and Escalations

- Ensure onboarding reviews and escalations are completed within defined SLAs
- Escalate high-risk or ambiguous cases with clear risk context and recommendations

Documentation and Audit Readiness

- Maintain clear and structured risk assessment documentation
- Ensure onboarding decisions are defensible for audits, reviews, and partner inquiries

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams
- Align onboarding decisions with downstream monitoring and controls

What You Bring

- 0 to 1 years of experience in merchant onboarding, payments risk, or risk operations
- Strong ability to analyze digital merchant business models and customer flows
- Proven experience identifying prohibited, restricted, or high-risk merchants




- Solid understanding of chargebacks and disputes, including ratio thresholds and their impact on merchant risk
- Ability to distinguish fraud-driven disputes from non-fraud dispute patterns
- Demonstrated ability to identify fraud and financial crime risks at the onboarding stage
- Experience working with defined SLAs, turnaround times, and operational queues
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills

Nice to Have

- MBA in Finance is a robust plus, MBA Graduates prefered
- Experience working at payment gateways, fintechs, PSPs, or acquirers
- Familiarity with card network rules and risk programs (Visa and Mastercard)
- Exposure to ongoing monitoring, post-onboarding reviews, or transaction monitoring

What This Role Is Not

- Not a pure KYC data-checking role
- Not a checklist-based approvals function with no judgment
- Not a post-facto monitoring role only without onboarding ownership
