We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage all cost and contractual aspects of road construction projects, including highways, bridges, asphalt works, drainage, and earthworks. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost estimation, quantity take-off, budgeting, billing, contract administration, and financial control to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quantity Take-Off Estimation
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from drawings, BOQ, and specifications for road/infrastructure works.
- Estimate material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs for road projects.
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Prepare rate analysis for civil items such as excavation, GSB, WMM, DBM, BC, culverts, drains, and retaining walls.
- Assist in preparing project budgets and cost forecasts.
1. Cost Planning Budget Control
- Monitor project costs and ensure expenditures remain within approved budgets.
- Track material consumption, wastage, and productivity against planned quantities.
- Prepare cost comparison statements and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Conduct value engineering to improve project profitability and efficiency.
1. Billing Measurement
- Prepare client RA bills (Running Account Bills) and subcontractor bills.
- Verify site measurements and work progress for billing purposes.
- Reconcile executed quantities with BOQ and contract quantities.
- Prepare variation statements and extra item claims.
1. Contract Administration
- Review and interpret contract terms, conditions, and specifications.
- Manage contractual correspondence with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Identify contractual risks, delays, and claims.
- Assist in preparation of extension of time (EOT), escalation, and variation claims.
- Ensure compliance with contract provisions and payment terms. Contract management is a core QS responsibility including drafting/ managing contracts.
1. Procurement Vendor Management
- Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Compare rates and prepare procurement recommendations.
- Assist in issuing purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
- Monitor supplier and subcontractor payments.
1. Reporting Documentation
- Prepare weekly/monthly cost reports and commercial progress reports.
- Maintain records of quantities, bills, claims, variations, and payment certificates.
- Support project audits and final account settlement.
- Prepare final project reconciliation and closure reports.
1. Site Coordination
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, planning engineers, and accounts teams.
- Conduct site visits to verify progress, quantities, and resource utilization.
- Support project teams in resolving commercial and cost-related issues.
Required Skills Qualifications BOQ Tendering Rate Analysis Billing (RA Bill)
Contract Admin AutoCAD / ERP MoRTH / IRC FIDIC / EPC Cost Control Subcontractor Billing Variation Claims Reconciliation MIS Reporting
Qualification: Bachelor s Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field. 3-8 years of experience in road/highway/infrastructure projects with exposure to earthwork, GSB/WMM, DBM/BC, concrete pavement, culverts/bridges, drainage.
Preferred: Experience in NHAI / state road projects, project cash flow forecasting, claims management, subcontractor procurement.
