Lead end-to-end Supply Quality Assurance and inspection of mechanical commodities for Solar and Wind projects, ensuring compliance with approved engineering specifications, drawings, MQP/QAP/ITP, applicable national and international standards, contractual requirements and defined quality, reliability and safety objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commodity-wise quality strategy, inspection philosophy, CTQ/critical inspection parameters and supplier quality plans for Solar &
- Wind mechanical packages.
- Establish supplier qualification, capability assessment, risk classification, performance rating and supplier development framework for critical mechanical commodities.
- Drive prevention of defects, cost of poor quality reduction, lessons learned and continual improvement across the supply chain.
- Provide technical quality inputs to Engineering, Procurement and Projects for specifications, PO quality clauses, approved vendor requirements and quality risk mitigation.
Operational Responsibilities
- Lead inspection and quality control of Solar MMS/fixed structures, tracker mechanical systems, structural/fabricated items, fencing and associated mechanical components.
- Lead inspection of Wind mechanical packages including tower sections/flanges, hub, main shaft, bearings, gearbox, nacelle/bedplate, yaw and other critical mechanical interfaces, as applicable to the project.
- Review and approve MQP/QAP/ITP, inspection checklists, method statements, sampling plans, acceptance criteria, hold/witness points and final quality dossiers.
- Ensure control of raw material, MTC/traceability, fabrication, machining, welding, heat treatment, NDT, dimensional inspection, galvanizing/coating, assembly, functional/FAT and packing/preservation.
- Review drawings, specifications, BOMs, revisions and tolerances; identify CTQs and technically challenge deviations/non-conforming conditions.
- Ensure timely inspection disposition, release/hold decisions, NCR containment, root-cause analysis, CAPA/8D and effective closure of supplier quality issues.
- Coordinate factory inspections, third-party inspection agencies, supplier QA/QC teams and project/site teams from manufacturing through dispatch and site receipt/installation.
- Monitor supplier quality KPIs, inspection performance, NCR trends, rework/rejection, delivery-quality risk and provide management dashboards/reports.
People &
- Stakeholder Responsibilities
- Plan and manage third-party QA manpower/inspection resources; assess inspector competency and monitor performance.
- Mentor QA/QC engineers and inspectors and build technical competency in mechanical inspection and supplier quality.
- Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, SCM, Construction, Projects, Vendors and Clients for timely resolution of technical quality issues.
- Lead quality reviews, supplier meetings, escalations and grievance/conflict resolution related to inspection and quality.
Financial / Commercial Responsibilities
- Optimize inspection resources and QA cost while maintaining risk-based quality assurance coverage.
- Provide technical inputs for quality-related PO/contract conditions, inspection liabilities, rejection/replacement, re-inspection and warranty/performance requirements.
