Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior Python Developer to build and maintain the Python services in a P&C; insurance policy administration platform. The platform is moving from a legacy DB2 and IBM i environment toward Python based backend code base, so the work spans maintaining and extending current Python logic against DB2 and building new Python services on the target platform. This is an offshore role delivered from India with a required daily overlap with US Eastern business hours.

Technical Skills

- 6 to 8 years of professional experience building and running production Python 3.x applications.

- Strong SQL and solid experience with relational databases, including query optimization and working with existing schemas.

- Sound grasp of OOP, common design patterns, and asynchronous programming (asyncio).

- Experience building APIs or services with a modern Python framework such as FastAPI (Django or Flask acceptable).

- Automated testing discipline with PyTest or similar, and version control with Git in a collaborative workflow.

- Solid debugging, performance-tuning, and analytical skills, with the ability to work in unfamiliar legacy code.

Desirable Skills





- Exposure to P&C; insurance concepts such as policy, rating, lifecycle transactions, claims and billing.

- Prior experience delivering for US clients in an offshore or hybrid onshore-offshore model.

- Exposure to IBM i (AS/400) environments and to DB2 specifically, including reading and connecting to DB2 data.

- Data-processing experience with Pandas and NumPy.

- Familiarity with API security including OAuth2 and JWT.

Educational Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and optimize Python applications and services, including insurance business logic and scheduled data-processing jobs.

- Build and maintain Python APIs and services as part of the migration.

- Write SQL and work across the current DB2 data source including query tuning and data validation.

- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code with automated tests (unit, integration, functional) using PyTest or equivalent.

- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve performance bottlenecks in production systems.

- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Collaborate with US-based client stakeholders, architects, and the offshore delivery team, maintaining 3 to 4 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern business hours.

- Follow secure development practices across all work, with attention to client data isolation.
