Job Title: Assistant Design Coordinator - Architecture experience in Commercial and Retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Process Management: Establishing and managing protocols for the entire design phase, including setting up document control systems and tracking the progress of consultants.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Serving as the primary point of contact between clients, internal project managers, and external design consultants (architects, MEP engineers, etc.).
- Technical Reviews &
- Compliance: Reviewing design submissions and shop drawings to ensure they comply with building codes, project specifications, and the client’s approved requirements.
- Schedule &
- Milestone Tracking: Maintaining the "Drawing Release Schedule" and "GFC (Positive for Construction) Drawing Logs" to ensure that the site team never runs out of approved plans.
- Clash Detection &
- Value Engineering: Working with BIM teams for coordination (e.g., ensuring plumbing doesn't hit structural beams)
and identifying cost-saving opportunities through value engineering.
- Budgetary Control: Monitoring design-related expenses, tracking allowances against actual costs, and managing change orders to prevent budget overruns.
- Administrative Support: Organizing and chairing design meetings, recording minutes, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed by the relevant consultants.
