About Us

Vartika Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals is a manufacturer specializing in active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and fine chemicals. We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead our Artemisinin manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient, compliant, and high-quality production.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Production Manager with hands-on expertise in Artemisinin (or related antimalarial API/phytopharmaceutical) manufacturing to oversee end-to-end production operations — from raw material (Artemisia annua extract) processing through extraction, purification, crystallization, and final API output.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, schedule, and supervise daily production of Artemisinin/Artemisinin derivatives to meet output and quality targets
- Oversee extraction, solvent recovery, crystallization, and purification processes specific to Artemisinin manufacturing
- Ensure compliance with GMP, WHO-GMP, and other applicable regulatory standards (FDA/EU-GMP exposure a plus)
- Manage batch production records (BPRs), SOPs, and validation documentation
- Coordinate with QA/QC, R&D;, and supply chain teams to optimize yield and reduce process losses
- Troubleshoot production deviations, implement CAPA, and drive continuous process improvement
- Manage plant manpower, shift scheduling,



and training of production staff
- Ensure adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) protocols, particularly for solvent handling
- Monitor raw material (Artemisia annua leaf/extract) quality and coordinate with procurement
- Drive cost optimization and process efficiency initiatives

Required Qualifications
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, or M.Sc/Ph.D in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
- Minimum 8-10 years of production experience in pharmaceutical/API manufacturing, with specific hands-on experience in Artemisinin or artemisinin derivative (ACTs) manufacturing required
- Strong knowledge of extraction technologies, crystallization, solvent recovery systems
- Working knowledge of GMP, WHO-GMP, and regulatory documentation
- Experience with batch process optimization and yield improvement
- Strong leadership and team management skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with WHO-PQ (Prequalification) or FDA-regulated API facilities
- Exposure to Artemisia annua cultivation/agri-processing linkage
- Knowledge of green chemistry/solvent recovery techniques
