Power BI Developer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer with 5–7 years of relevant experience to join our team on-site in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will have solid hands-on expertise across the Microsoft Power BI ecosystem, including report development, semantic modeling, Power BI Service, dashboards, and workflow automation.

This position will initially be a 6–12 month W-2 contract with the potential to convert to a full-time position. Candidates must be open to full time conversion based on business needs and performance.

We are specifically looking for candidates whose experience aligns closely with the requirements below. Overqualified profiles may not be the best fit for this position.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Develop paginated and operational reports using Power BI Report Builder.
- Build and maintain scalable Power BI semantic models, including relationships, measures, calculated columns, and DAX logic.
- Publish, configure, and manage reports, datasets, workspaces, and refresh processes within Power BI Service.
- Develop dashboards and data visualizations that translate complex business requirements into actionable insights.
- Build and maintain automated workflows using Power Automate.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis.
- Work with Snowflake as a cloud data warehouse and integrate Snowflake data into Power BI solutions.




- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and other technical teams to gather requirements and deliver reporting solutions.
- Perform data validation, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and reconciliation to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Follow BI development standards, documentation practices, security requirements, and deployment processes.

Required Qualifications

- 5–7 years of relevant BI, analytics, or data development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI development.
- Strong experience with Power BI Report Builder.
- Strong understanding of Power BI semantic models and data modeling.
- Experience administering and deploying solutions through Power BI Service.
- Strong experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Hands-on experience with Power Automate.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, CTEs, aggregations, and data validation.
- Hands-on experience working with Snowflake.
- Strong understanding of relational data, dimensional modeling, and BI/reporting best practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to Have Experience with the following technologies would be an advantage:

- dbt Cloud
- Fivetran / HVR
- AWS
- Modern cloud-based ETL/ELT and data warehouse architectures

- Candidates must be able to work on a W-2 basis. C2C/Corp-to-Corp arrangements are not available.
- Candidates should have approximately 5–7 years of relevant experience; significantly overqualified profiles are not preferred.
- Candidates must be open to potential full-time conversion following the initial 6–12 month contract period.
