About The Job:

- We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our infrastructure team.

- In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of our PostgreSQL environments — from installation and performance tuning to high availability, disaster recovery, and cloud migration.

- You will work closely with application teams and contribute to building a scalable, reliable, and secure data platform.

Essential Job Function:

Installation, Configuration & Maintenance

- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including patching, version upgrades, and environment optimization.

- Configure and administer PostgreSQL for high performance, availability, and security.

- Monitor database health, capacity, and growth trends while proactively troubleshooting and resolving incidents.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

- Implement and manage HA/DR solutions using tools such as Patroni, etcd, and PgBouncer, ensuring robust replication and recovery capabilities.

- Design and implement backup & recovery strategies using pg_basebackup, WAL backup, pgBackRest, and Barman.

- Manage backup and recovery processes,



ensuring compliance with defined RTO/RPO metrics.

Performance Tuning & Optimization

- Develop and execute performance tuning strategies including query optimization, indexing, and database configuration adjustments.

- Troubleshoot production issues including locks, deadlocks, replication lag, and table bloat.

Database Migration

- Lead database migrations from Oracle/MySQL to PostgreSQL, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.

- Manage on-premises to cloud migrations, including planning, execution, and validation.

- Collaborate with application teams to rewrite and optimize PL/SQL code into PostgreSQL-compatible PL/pgSQL functions and procedures.

Automation & Documentation

- Automate routine DBA tasks using Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible.

- Prepare and maintain documentation for migration strategies, configuration standards, and operational procedures.

Qualification:

Required Skills & Tools

- PostgreSQL — advanced administration, configuration, and tuning

- HA/DR — Patroni, etcd, PgBouncer, streaming replication

- Backup & Recovery — pg_basebackup, WAL archiving, pgBackRest, Barman

- Migration — Oracle-to-PostgreSQL, MySQL-to-PostgreSQL, on-prem-to-cloud

- PL/pgSQL — stored procedures, functions, triggers

- Automation — Shell scripting, Python, Ansible





- Monitoring — database health, capacity planning, incident response

- Cloud Platforms — AWS / Azure / GCP (PostgreSQL managed services a plus)
