Position: Plant Manager / Unit Head

Experience: 8–15 years

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Plant Manager to lead the operations of our new electric two-wheeler assembly facility in Chennai.

This is a key leadership role for someone who can take ownership of the plant from setup and production ramp-up to achieving high-volume, efficient and quality-focused operations.

Key Responsibilities? Plant Setup & Operations

- Lead the setup, commissioning and operational readiness of the Chennai plant.
- Establish SOPs, work instructions, processes and production systems.
- Manage the complete day-to-day plant operations.

? Production & Assembly

- Own daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
- Manage assembly-line productivity, manpower, cycle times and downtime.
- Identify bottlenecks and continuously improve throughput and efficiency.
- Ensure production targets are achieved without compromising quality.

? Stores & Material Management

- Oversee material receipt, storage, inventory and issue to production.
- Ensure uninterrupted material availability for production.
- Implement proper inventory control, FIFO and traceability systems.

? Quality & PDI

- Establish quality checkpoints throughout the assembly process.
- Oversee PDI and ensure vehicles meet required quality standards before dispatch.
- Drive root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues.

? Dispatch & Service

- Manage finished vehicle planning and dispatch.
- Coordinate production,



PDI and logistics to ensure timely dispatch.
- Work closely with Service and Quality teams to identify and resolve recurring field issues.

? Manpower & Team Management

- Build and manage the plant team across Stores, Assembly, PDI, Dispatch and Service.
- Plan manpower requirements and shift structures.
- Recruit, train and develop supervisors, technicians and operators.
- Drive shop-floor discipline and productivity.

? Cost & Efficiency

- Own plant operating costs and productivity.
- Monitor labour cost per vehicle, overtime, scrap, rework and other manufacturing costs.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

? Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict adherence to EHS and factory safety requirements.
- Establish safe processes for assembly, battery handling, testing and material movement.
- Maintain a strong safety culture across the plant.

What We Are Looking ForWe are looking for a hands-on plant leader, not someone who is purely administrative.

The ideal candidate will have:

✅ 8–15 years of manufacturing experience

✅ 3–5+ years of experience managing a plant/unit or large production operation

✅ Experience in automobile, two-wheeler, EV, automotive components or high-volume assembly

✅ Strong knowledge of production planning and shop-floor management

✅ Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement

✅ Strong understanding of quality systems and root-cause analysis

✅ Experience in manpower planning and team management

✅ Good understanding of ERP/MRP and MIS

✅ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

✅ Ability to build and manage a team from the ground up

Engineering degree/diploma in Mechanical, Production, Automobile or Electrical Engineering preferred.
