Job Title: Physician Assistant
Department: Clinical / Medical Department
Location: ARH Hospital, Guindy, Chennai
Reporting To: Consultant Physician / Medical Director / Hospital Management
Job Summary The Physician Assistant will assist the Consultant Physician in providing patient care, clinical coordination, documentation, and day-to-day medical support. The role involves assisting with patient assessment, maintaining medical records, coordinating investigations, and ensuring smooth communication between patients, doctors, nurses, and other departments.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care & Clinical Assistance
- Assist the physician during patient consultations and clinical procedures.
- Record and document patient history, vital signs, and relevant clinical information.
- Assist in preliminary patient assessment as directed by the physician.
- Monitor patients and promptly report any changes in their condition to the concerned doctor.
- Assist in preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
- Provide appropriate patient instructions as directed by the physician.
1. Doctor Support
- Assist consultants during OPD and clinical activities.
- Coordinate patient investigations and follow-up requirements.
- Ensure relevant investigation reports are available for the physician.
- Assist the doctor with clinical documentation and medical records.
- Communicate instructions given by the physician to the concerned nursing/clinical team.
1. Patient Coordination
- Guide patients regarding investigations, procedures, follow-ups, and referrals.
- Coordinate with Nursing, Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Billing, and other departments.
- Address routine patient queries and escalate clinical concerns to the physician.
- Maintain professional and compassionate communication with patients and attendants.
1. Medical Documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Assist in updating case sheets, consultation notes, investigation records, and follow-up documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Maintain required clinical registers and records as per hospital policy.
1. Emergency & Clinical Support
- Assist the medical team during emergencies as instructed.
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition immediately.
- Assist in emergency procedures within the scope of training and hospital protocols.
- Ensure necessary emergency equipment and supplies are available when required.
1. Follow-up & Coordination
- Coordinate patient follow-up appointments as advised by the physician.
- Follow up on pending investigations and reports.
- Assist in maintaining continuity of patient care.
- Coordinate with other departments and specialists when referrals are required.
Qualification
- B.Sc. Physician Assistant / Bachelor of Physician Assistant / equivalent recognized qualification.
- Relevant clinical training is preferred.
Experience
- 0–3 years of experience in a hospital/clinical setting.
- Freshers with relevant qualification and clinical internship may also be considered.
Required Skills
- Good clinical observation and patient-care skills.
- Good communication skills in English and Tamil.
- Knowledge of basic clinical procedures and medical terminology.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Patient-friendly and professional attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Basic computer knowledge.

- Accuracy of patient documentation.
- Timely assistance to consultants.
- Effective patient coordination and follow-up.
- Compliance with hospital clinical protocols.
- Timely escalation of changes in patient condition.
- Patient satisfaction and professional conduct.
- Effective coordination with clinical and support departments.
Note: The Physician Assistant must perform duties within their qualification, training, and authorized scope of practice and follow all hospital policies, clinical protocols, and instructions of the treating physician. Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
