Position Overview The PeopleSoft Technical Consultant with expertise in Time & Labor and Payroll is responsible for the technical design, development, customization, and support of PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) modules, focusing on Time & Labor and Payroll. This role involves developing and maintaining technical solutions, ensuring system integrations, and providing support for enhancements and issue resolution to meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Development & Customization
- Design, develop, and customize PeopleSoft Time & Labor and Payroll solutions using PeopleTools, including Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, and SQR.
- Build and modify components such as pages, records, fields, and processes to support Time & Labor rules, payroll calculations, and reporting requirements.
- Develop custom bolt-on applications or extensions as needed for specific business requirements.

- System Integration

- Develop and maintain interfaces between PeopleSoft Time & Labor, Payroll, and other modules (e.g., Core HR, Benefits) or third-party systems (e.g., General Ledger, tax reporting tools).
- Implement and troubleshoot integration broker setups, web services, and file-based interfaces for seamless data exchange.
- Ensure data integrity and performance optimization during integrations.

- Configuration & Support

- Provide technical support for system upgrades, patches, and PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) activities.




- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to batch processes, online transactions, and performance bottlenecks.

- Testing & Validation

- Create and execute technical test scripts for unit testing, system integration testing, and performance testing of Time & Labor and Payroll processes.
- Debug and resolve issues identified during testing, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and time tracking policies.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by addressing technical defects and providing solutions.

- Reporting & Analytics

- Develop custom reports and queries using PeopleSoft Query, SQR, nVision, or BI Publisher for Time & Labor and Payroll data.
- Create and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Build dashboards or analytical tools to support business decision-making and audits.

- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

- Document technical designs, specifications, and configurations for customizations and integrations.
- Provide knowledge transfer to internal teams and create technical documentation for ongoing maintenance.
- Support end-users by developing technical guides or troubleshooting documentation.





- Performance Optimization & Maintenance

- Monitor and optimize system performance for Time & Labor and Payroll processes, including batch jobs and online transactions.
- Apply patches, bundles, and updates to ensure system stability and compliance with Oracle standards.
- Recommend and implement best practices for PeopleSoft development and maintenance.

Qualifications & Skills

- Experience:
- 8+ years of experience as a PeopleSoft Technical Consultant with hands-on expertise in Time & Labor and Payroll modules.
- Proven experience with PeopleSoft HCM 9.1/9.2, including full lifecycle implementations, upgrades, or support projects.
- Experience with PeopleTools (8.5x or higher), Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, SQR, and Integration Broker.

- Technical Skills:

- Strong proficiency in PeopleCode, Application Engine, Component Interfaces, BI Publisher and SQR for custom development.
- Expertise in SQL and PL/SQL for database querying, performance tuning, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of integration technologies (e.g., Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs, File Layouts).
- Understanding of payroll processing, tax calculations, and time reporting configurations.

- Soft Skills:

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with functional consultants, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
