Core Responsibilities

- Pattern Development: “Create precise first, sample, and final production patterns from sketches, tech packs, or existing samples.” -- [Adzuna].

- Leather & Hardware Adaptation: Account for natural leather behavior (stretch, thickness, and stiffness), heavy linings, interfacings, zippers, and snap placements.

- Fitting and Corrections: “Conduct fitting sessions on models or mannequins, identify fitting issues, and modify patterns to improve drape and proportion.” -- [Adzuna].

- Grading: Scale base patterns accurately across standard men’s and women’s size ranges. [1, 2]

- Team Coordination: Guide sample tailors, oversee proto-development, and resolve production or stitching constraints with floor managers. [1, 2, 3]

Key Requirements & Skills

- Experience: 1 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in manual and/or digital pattern-making, specifically with leather garments or structured outerwear.

- Technical Software: Proficiency in CAD software like Gerber AccuMark, Lectra Modaris, Tukatech, or Optitex is frequently required for advanced roles. [1, 2]

- Material Expertise: Deep understanding of leather slicing, seam balancing, armholes, collars, and structural panel alignment.

- Qualifications: Diploma or certification in fashion design, garment technology, or pattern making (or equivalent extensive practical floor experience). [1]
