Summary of Job Profile / Purpose of the Position: The Packaging Executive will design, develop, test, and optimize packaging solutions for both automotive components and home appliances. The goal is to ensure maximum product protection during transit and storage, minimize packaging costs, improve spatial efficiency in warehousing/shipping, and maintain high standards of sustainability and brand presentation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Packaging Design & Development:

- Develop robust packaging concepts for varied productsranging from heavy, oily automotive parts to fragile, high-finish home appliances (like washing machines, refrigerators, or microwaves).
- Select appropriate materials based on product vulnerability (e.g., corrugated boxes, EPS/thermocol, air cushions, bubble wraps, anti-rust/VCI bags, wooden pallets, and returnable plastic crates).
- Design returnable and reusable packaging systems specifically for Just-In-Time (JIT) automotive supply chains to reduce structural waste.

2. Testing & Quality Assurance:

- Conduct and supervise rigorous packaging drop tests, vibration tests, stackability tests, and environmental simulation tests (ASTM/ISTA standards).
- Establish strict Quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the line operators regarding how products must be wrapped and boxed.
- Analyze transit damage reports, identify packaging failure root causes,



and implement corrective actions.

3. Cost Optimization & Sustainability:

- Drive cost-reduction initiatives by optimizing box dimensions, improving container utilization matrices, and negotiating with material vendors.
- Introduce eco-friendly, recyclable, and sustainable packaging materials in line with modern green manufacturing regulations.
- Standardize packaging sizes across different appliance models to achieve economies of scale.

4. Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination:

- Collaborate closely with Current Product Development (NPD), Production, Quality, and Logistics teams to understand product dimensions and shipping hazards.
- Manage relationships with packaging material vendors, ensuring they meet technical specifications, delivery timelines, and quality benchmarks.

Knowledge : Deep understanding of Papaerboard, Corrugated physics (GSM, Bursting Factor), plastics, foam molding, and VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors) technology. Skills :Proficiency in Packaging design software, Familiarity with international testing standards such as ISTA ( International Safe Transit Association) & ASTM.
