We are seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Operations team supporting FPSO operations from the Mumbai base office. The role involves providing technical and operational support for offshore production facilities and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mechanical systems and rotating equipment associated with FPSO assets.
The ideal candidate should have relevant experience in Offshore Oil & Gas, FPSO, or offshore production facilities, with strong capabilities in troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, equipment reliability, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering support for FPSO operations and offshore production facilities.
- Monitor the operational performance and health of rotating and static equipment, including:
- Pumps
- Compressors
- Turbines
- Heat Exchangers
- Valves
- Utility Systems
- Support day-to-day operations, shutdown planning, maintenance coordination, and troubleshooting.
- Review equipment health, maintenance records, and operational data to improve reliability and availability.
- Coordinate with offshore teams, OEMs, vendors, and contractors for maintenance and technical issues.
- Participate in incident investigations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, international standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support spare parts planning, inventory management, and procurement activities.
- Assist in developing maintenance strategies, SOPs, operational procedures, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Participate in offshore visits for audits, shutdowns, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support as required.
- Support mechanical integrity management and inspection activities.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Production, Marine, Maintenance, Process, and HSE departments.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Qualification
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
Experience
- 2 - 15 years of relevant experience in:
- Offshore Oil & Gas
- FPSO
- Offshore Production Platforms
- Floating Production Facilities
- Experience in operations support, maintenance, or reliability engineering for offshore facilities.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of rotating and static equipment, piping systems, and utilities.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operational support.
- Familiarity with SAP, Maximo, or other CMMS platforms.
- Knowledge of offshore safety standards, Permit to Work (PTW) systems, and HSE practices.
- Understanding of maintenance and reliability principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Valuable communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and multicultural environment.
Preferred Experience
- Prior FPSO operational experience is preferred.
- Exposure to shutdown planning and offshore campaigns.
- Knowledge of reliability engineering and condition monitoring techniques.
- Experience with international offshore operators or EPC companies.
- Familiarity with API, ASME, ISO, and offshore engineering standards.
