Job Purpose To assist the surgical and anaesthesia team in the safe and productive conduct of gynaecological and obstetric procedures while maintaining strict standards of asepsis, infection control, patient safety and OT discipline.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare the OT before every scheduled and emergency gynaecological/obstetric procedure.
- Check the availability, cleanliness, sterility and functionality of all required OT instruments and equipment.
- Arrange appropriate surgical sets for procedures such as LSCS, hysterectomy, D&C;, laparoscopy, laparotomy, ovarian procedures and other gynaecological surgeries.
- Assist the surgeon and OT team during procedures by providing required sterile instruments, sutures, consumables and other surgical items.
- Maintain strict aseptic and sterile technique throughout the procedure.
- Perform and document instrument, sponge, needle and swab counts as per hospital protocol.
- Assist in preparation and positioning of patients while maintaining privacy, dignity and safety.
- Ensure proper preparation and functioning of suction, cautery, OT table, lights and other required equipment.
- Assist the anaesthesia team by keeping necessary airway and emergency equipment readily available when required.
- Handle surgical specimens appropriately, ensure correct identification/labeling and send them to the concerned department as per hospital protocol.
- Assist in emergency obstetric and gynaecological procedures and ensure rapid availability of required instruments and supplies.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection and segregation of used instruments after every procedure.
- Send used instruments to CSSD for appropriate cleaning,



sterilization and processing.
- Maintain adequate stock of OT consumables, sutures, sterile packs and emergency items and report shortages to the OT In-charge.
- Check expiry dates and packaging integrity of sterile and consumable items regularly.
- Follow hospital policies related to infection prevention and control, biomedical waste management, PPE and occupational safety.
- Maintain proper OT records, checklists, sterilization records and other documentation as assigned.
- Report any equipment malfunction, shortage, contamination, medication/instrument issue or patient-safety concern immediately to the concerned senior.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, professional conduct and effective communication with surgeons, anaesthesia staff, nursing staff and other departments.
- Perform any other OT-related duties assigned by the OT In-charge / management.

Accountability The OT Staff is responsible for maintaining OT readiness, sterility, instrument availability, patient safety and smooth functioning of assigned gynaecological/obstetric procedures in accordance with hospital policies and clinical protocols. Pay: ₹1.00 - ₹220,000.00 per year
